Second open biopsy

I had a mammogram in January and they found a little lump with calcifications around it.
my surgeon recommended a stereotactic biopsy it was done immediately.
the pathologist report said that I had atypical hyperplasia, again my surgeon recommended a excisional open biopsy to remove all the area with the calcifications, it was done tow weeks ago today I went for a follow up, the surgeon said that the pathologist report of the tissue sample showed that I still have more tissue that needs to be removed within a month that means another open biopsy.
The surgeon said that the new result puts me at a higher risk of getting cancer latter.
I don't know what to do.
should I go ahead and do it?
Wait? Go to another surgeon?
HELP! I need advice.

Hi,

I'm a big fan of second, and sometime third opinions.  I think we all have a voice in our head that tells us when we are satisfied that we have the information we need to make an informed decision about our health and the proper plan for ourselves to move forward.  I think, also, we have that nagging feeling when we don't have enough information to feel confident with proceeding forward.  I don't know what you should do, but I know you should feel confident with your treatment plan.

Feel free to stop by my profile and read my story.  I asked many questions, and continue to ask to this day to feel as close to 100% confident as I can with how I am proceeding. You make the best decision you can with the information you have at the time.

I also encourage you to read the welcome note on the breast cancer forum home page to see how you can make use of your profile and our communitiy so we can help you and support you.

Glad you are here.  There are wonderful supportive, positive women here to help.

Warmly,

Chris

Hi,

If you are not convinced you could take a second opinion to clear out your doubts and to reassure yourself about the correct treatment plan.

It would be best to also discuss this is in detail with your breast surgeon - he/she must be doing the best possible in your case.

Could you post us the reports here so that we may be able to help you.

Let us know if you have any other doubts and post us about how you ae doing.

Regards.
