Flattened and hardened breast with nipple deviation

I am a 35 year old female. I have never had children and have been on the combined pill for the past 7 years without breaks on the advice of my gynaecologist to control the symptoms of endometriosis. I had infantile idiopathic scoliosis (diagnosed at 6 months of age) with surgeries at 10, 18, 25 and 33 so grew up having many x-rays taken of my spine throughout my childhood and adult life. There is no history of breast cancer in my family that I know of.

I have had many fibroadenomas in the past and they have always checked out OK. I last had a fibroadenoma checked back in April. Since then I have developed a new sort of breast problem: the inner side of my right breast has gone very hard and lumpy and seems to be "tethered" in place. It had noticeably flattened out and looks a lot different to my left breast. When I lean forwards, my left breast swings forwards naturally but my right breast hardly moves at all and the difference in size is marked. In addition, my right nipple seems to be being pulled sideways. My partner has noticed and I'm embarrassed by the way it looks and feels.

I have an appointment at the breast clinic in a week's time. Based on the above, is it likely to be bad news? I would rather be mentally prepared for it, if it is. I've dealt with a lot of medical issues over the years as well as the scoliosis, and feel in much more in control and comfortable if I have knowledge of my conditions, even if the prognosis isn't good.

Many thanks!

Thanks, I'm not really bothered or stressed about it :-) I'd like to hear about conditions other than cancer that can cause these particuar symptoms though, if anyone can help with that. I was thinking fat necrosis, but that seems to usually present as one discrete lump.

Many thanks for any info or advice!

Not necessarily. Not all breast problems are cancer related Think good until they tell you for sure other wise.
