Shouldn't lymph nodes show up on ultrasound?

A mamogram 6 weeks ago and another today show what the radiologist thinks is a lymph node.  An ultrasound of the area does not show anything.  If it is a lymph node on mamogram, should it be visualized on ultrasound?  I was given another appointment for another mamogram in 6 months.  Should I be concerned? I had an MRI done to check on my lymph node status, and it showed everything was normal. Well, big surprise during surgery. They were all mostly cancerous. My surgeon did many ultrasounds and he suspected..but did not know for sure about what he was seeing, that was why he ordered the MRI.

Ultrasound would normally see a lymph node .... it may depend on the location of the node. US is better at demonstrating fluid filled objects than ordinary X-ray. There is always the possibility that whatever was seen was something other than a lynph node. You might consider having your films read by another Radiologist; a second opinion of sorts. Another opinion may clarify things for you.  Regards ...
