compression mammogram and ultrasound

Hi, I am not new to this site but new to this forum.  Since I have no medical insurance I scheduled a pap smear and
breast exam at our local clinic. The last mammogram I had was in February 2006.  I usually get one every year but
I didn't last year because my Daughter was killed in a tragic sensless accident and I just didn't care anymore about
anything, but I finally pulled myself out of my grief and decided I had other family to think about and went for testing.
To make a long story short, I received a phone call from the health clinic and they informed me that I needed to go back to the hospital for a compression mammogram of the left breast and an ultrasound.  This was last Tuesday, as
of today, the results have not been sent to the clinic.  The problem is that ever since I got the call about the
testing, I have had upper back pain, pain in the rib cage and down both sides and some pain in the left breast with
occasional twinges of pain in right breast.  I am 61 years old and was told they were looking at calcifications in the
left breast.  Would my pain be due to mestastisied bone mets or is it physcosomatic?  I am being worried out of my
mind with the not knowing.  I would rather know the results than have this constant worry.  Has anyone else out
there had the same problems I have and how did your results come out. Would appreciate any input on this subject.

Thanks for replying to my post.  I am trying not to worry and even if I don't get good
results, I am going to try to stay as positive as I can.  I need to as I also take care of
my 84 year old Mother.  She is very independent and lives in her own home, but I take
care of cutting her grass and taking her places she needs to go as she has never driven
a car.  I know she is petrified that something might be seriously wrong, but she is also
keeping a positive attitude.   Thanks again for listening and God Bless
P. S.   I am an only child but have a wonderful husband, two other children and 8
beautiful grandchildren that are very supportive.

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss; losing a child is a devastating experence. The delay in your final results of the mammo and US is understandable as it's a lengthy process between the reading, dictating, typing and sending to a Clinic or Dr.s office. Breast Cancer isn't known for causing pain and if only microcalcifications were seen on your films .. then pain wouldn't be related to that. Some women do experience pain following Mammogram, especially when compression views follow. I applaud you for (as you put it) getting yourself together and taking care of your health. Could be you're getting a little overanxious about your tests and this is certainly understandable. Try to relax (easier said than done I know) .... hope you get your results soon and that they are OK. Best Wishes......
