feeling,, I dont know?

ok, here goes I am new to this site.  in Oct had my first mammogram found something and had to redo it all, then do ultra sound, then do biopsy, then they send me to the oncologist, long story short had a partial mastectomy.  what is crazy is I had my Gall Bladder removed on Oct 1 then on Oct 20 had the mastectomy, and all of this started because I went to the doc with numbness in my thigh..  after I got my first abnormal results back that doctor actually said these words to me, "you might as well whack them both off".  can you believe it.???
The good thing is the surgen was able to get it all, just had my 2nd mamo after the surgery and every thing looks good, the oncologist has put me on tamoxifin, so I am dealing with the side effects but, those are better than getting cancer!!
now just last week my biological mom died from aggressive breast cancer, so just when I started to begin to feel like myself, I am in a tailspin,,, does anyone out there feel like this??
or am I over sensitive?

Well I think I would have had a few words to say to the Dr. that made the "whack 'em off" comment. That is grounds for some sort of sanction in my book. I wouldn't get myself in too much of a tailspin about the family history thing ..... evidently you are on the right track with your treatment ... Familial Breast Cancer only represents a small percentage of all breast cancers. You don't state your mother's age but you might ck. into being tested for the Breast Cancer Gene. If you were proven positive you would need to be monitored more closely than normal. I don't think you are being overly sensitive .... I think it's just all this going on at once. Hopefully things will calm down soon and you're thoughts will level off too.   Regards ....
