Inflamation following mastectomy

In Oct. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy, and reconstruction.  One month later I developed an infection on the right side, had the implant removed and the infection cultured.  Was put on anitbiotics and the incision healed.  No it is three wks later and there is inflamation on the bottom portion of the right side, again was given antibiotics, but doesn't appear to be helping?  What would cause this redness....it is slightly warm, and is not painful.

Keep his business card with you and once you're on the road don't hesitate to call him day or night if you need his attention. He can always call something in for you.

Enjoy your trip! :)

My doctor kept me on the same antibiotics but extended the script for an additional 7 days.  The inflamation has 'faded', so it's not gone but has lightened so guess that is why he stay with this one. They say it's a bacteria.

When I again reminded him 12/14 is when I plan on leaving he looked like he did hesitate, so hopefully this dosage does the trick.  I am driving so it's not like I can't change it, but the closer to the holidays the more crazy it gets all over.

Thanks,
Kathleen

What did your doctor say when you went yesterday? Did they change your antibiotics?

I hope you have a wonderful southern winter with your grandbaby :)

Thank you for your concern.  Yes, I've been in tough with the surgeon, they say to stay on the antibiotics I am presently taking, have an appt with them Monday afternoon.  I so hope this is going to pass as I am supposed to travel 560 miles south for the winter.  I've waited 7 yrs to do this to spend more time w/grandson and family.

Please call your doctor and let them know the antibiotics aren't working. You don't want to end up in the hospital. They can and will accept your phone call at night & on the weekend and can and will prescribe a stronger antibiotic.

Best wishes and I hope this clears up soon.

I assume you are staying in close touch with your surgeon regarding your contining problems. S/he would be in a better position than anyone over the Internet to answer your questions, based on physical examination, cultures, etc.

Best wishes,
