too much anesthesia?

I am getting concerned that I've been "put under" too many times.   Once in Aug '08, Sept '08, Oct' 08 for breast cancer & port, once 7/09 for retina repair,   and will be going under twice more for expander & augmentation this fall/winter..   I feel foggy sometimes  & am wondering how much this affects me....will the effects go away in time.... any input?  I figure chemo brain (fall '08) has something to do with it... just wondering.

Sue is right on .... Anesthesia wouldn't have this effect; the drugs used in anesthesia leave the body within a relatively short time with no lasting effects.   Regards ....

Oh yeah, chemo has something to do with it. There is a study going on right now at UCLA about chemobrain and it's been listed on the Hopkins website as well. Your route with cancer has similarities with mine. Two port surgeries, mastectomy, chemo, radiation, mastectomy and DIEP perforator flap reconstruction. I went back to work 6/15/09 and seriously had issues remembering what I do and having to teach it at the same time. You learn coping strategies, thank goodness. I don't miss my mind too much, but I sure do miss some of the things I used to remember!
