I also told my mom that it was ok to go and that in God's time when He calls on me, for her to come get me. I have such peace in my heart, becauseI have great love for our creator and I believe, have faith and trust fully in God and although my mother is resting in peace, she no longer has to witness the hell that is happening right here on earth that use to upset her so and I do believe in the resurrection and I will patiently wait to be reunited with my mom who.

Judy, I also told my mother almost exact words,I believe my mother is in heaven.
I also told her I would find her she could never get away from me.To have faith in the love
she taught us because the lord say love never dies it is the only thing that lasts.
and that we would all take care of each other.

My grandma told me that when her mom was dying and she was sitting by her side when her mom suddenly opened her eyes and said "Oh, it's so beautiful!" and then she died. I think she saw something too, maybe she saw the Lord.

I agree completely with what you are saying. As I held my dying mother, I whispered, "Mom, go to the light, go find grandma and grandpa"....her mother died when she was only nine and use to crying saying, she doesn't remember what her mother looks like....as soon as I said those words, my mother died.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the lord. Now we can call that heaven, or paradise (some think paradise is a waiting room until judgement day), but no way am I in that rotting corpse in the ground. While jesus hung on the cross, he told the thief "You will be with me in Paradise?" When? Today. He also says we will be judged in front of all and our sins revealed. So, it doesnt matter to me as long as I am with him in paradise, whether it be heaven, a waiting room or whatever. I do believe that to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord and this body is simply a vessel for my spirit to live in while I am on earth. Those are my thoughts and Im sticking to em! Yup, I do take the word literal.  He went to prepare a place for me, it should be ready about now I think, not to mention the fact that when my dad was dying he saw his mom and dad and aunt and told us they came to get him and the light was beautiful and told us he had to go now and then he died. Now he saw somethin there! He was not on drugs. Yep, Im a believer, for sure.

Seahorse, I pray you don't leave here. We are all human and have different personalities and may see things differently or worship God differently but we're all important to God because we're all the body of Christ. We need each other. We need to pray for each other. Even in bible times believers sometimes quaralled among themselves and Paul would remind them that we're all followers of Christ and that's really all that matters.

We have so many denominations who interpret the bible in so many ways. It's fascinating how people can look at the same scripture in a different way. That's why I said it's it's important that we pray first before reading God's Word and asking Him to show us what He wants us to get from that scripture.
God's ways and thoughts are higher than our ways and thoughts and we'll never completely understand everything until we are face to face with Him. Paul says right now we're "looking into a mirror darkly". We only understand some things for now.
I can only imagine the wonder of that day when we see the Lord and see Heaven. I think we aren't even going to be able to imagine what's in store for us! I think it will take our breath away, don't you? I think of that song "I can only imagine" and wonder, like the artist, how I will act that day I see Jesus. Will I fall on my knees? Will I be able to even speak? I can only imagine!

Yes, that is the verses..(and now I remember why I don't come here thanks for the reminder)..if Gods people aruge what message does that send unbleilvers..I also stated that I wans't on my game..I strongly believe in Abrahams boosom..but if you read Gen. 1 God (in the plural) created the heavenS and earth...no beliver in Christ is dead..the same Power that raised Christ from the dead Lives in Me...Greater is He Who Lives in me than he who is in the world...be Blessed <3 in fact I'm already Alive in Christ so my Salvation starts when I made Him Lord of my Life, why would anyone think different?

Yes I know there are a few in heaven right now the 24 elders. these ‘Elders’ are human
beings that God has taken to heaven ahead of time to help with the judgment.

We don’t know their names, but when Jesus rose from the dead, He raised a lot of people at that time, and when He went to heaven to continue His work for us there, He took these ones with Him. (Matthew 27:52, 53)

The bible says they thank God for redeeming them from earth. (Revelation 5:9) They would have to be set apart and holy in order for them to be taken to heaven. So they must be part of the priesthood. Who knows.. but it's fun to think of these things..perhaps Enoch, Moses and Eli?

Anyways apart from the 24 elders no one else is in heaven. We just await Jesus when he returns and there is no sadness in that because Jesus remembers those who were faithful. If it was a bad thing why would the ending of that bible text 1Thessalonians 4:18 say, "Therefore encourage each other with these words."?

Seahorse, I think you mean Romans 8:38-39, am I right? I love that one too!

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

All of this is very interesting and there have been some very interesting comments on here. Let's please not argue or quarrel. I know we are passionate people but we are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

I think the bible can be rather confusing at times. I think that's why it's important to always pray and ask God for discernment and wisdom before reading His Word and asking Him to show us what He wants us to learn for that day. We may not understand everything until we meet Him face to face but I think He's more interested in our hearts and growing our  faith than anything else.

I agree that those who lived in the Old Testament times had to use an animal sacrifice to cleanse their sins (it was a reflection of what Jesus would eventually do) and that was acceptable to God so I do believe that all who lived in that time who obeyed God is with Him in Heaven.
There are scriptures that suggest we "sleep" until Christ's return but there are also some that seem to suggest we go straight to Him so it can be hard to understand.
One thing I think about is when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane and Elijah and Moses came to speak to Him. Where did they come from? It would appear Heaven.

Also, the bible talks about a great witness watching us and cheering us on in our race here on Earth. Who are these witnesses? Some believe they are the Patriarchs, like Moses, Abraham, Elijah, etc. I don't know.
I know Revelations gets real confusing too as it's so symbolic but I know that if I place my faith in God and His son, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior that He will lead me and guide me into the truth when He sees fit.
We are all on this walk, this journey together, learning and growing, and I hope we will continue to until the day we do meet Jesus face to face. God bless us all and may He continue to teach, guide, forgive and bless us all our days.
Peace and grace to us all, April

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord <3!!!!!  Praise God <3
Now for a little off topic:  if you believe in heaven you had better believe their is a hell..but most people don't realise that hell wasn't made for people..God clearly tells us that He wishes no one would perish..it was made for the rebellion angles..but we have free will so it's our choice to choose Him...but in Romans I think the 29th Chapter (I'm not on my game tonight, migraine) Paul writes that nearther angels (and other things) will keep us from the Love that is in Christ Jesus <3..if anyone wants to add to this part feel free..sorry I haven't been online but I have been through a lot in the last few months and not getting the proper medical treatment I need and I get tunnel vision thus leading to the head aches but Romans 8:28 is what I'm holding hard to and walking by Faith..may God Bless you all like only He can <3

There is nothing that you say, write that we don't know already and I've take it up with Jesus, probably before you were born! Simple as that!

It's not meant to be depressing and I think it's sad that no matter what the bible says you'd rather believe what you like. I didn't say that your forgotten, no Jesus knows who are saved and he will recreate us. Death is a state of unconscious sleep, your soul doesn't leave and go to heaven where you stay with Jesus - no. We all await Jesus's coming. Why would Jesus waken the dead on earth if they are in heaven? All those quotes that were mentioned don't say you go to heaven, they quote that heaven is our home and we will be there when Jesus comes.

Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Judy you said that "I guess we just die and that's it" no the words in the bible text below say encourage each other with these words. Jesus will come to awaken the righteous and take the righteous living to heaven. There is nothing clearer than that text and if you don't believe it take it up with Jesus. Simple as that.

After we die we will be with the Lord

Corinthians 5:8
Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord. (NLT)

Philippians 1:22-23
But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. (NLT)

Believers will dwell with God forever.

Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (NIV)

Also:
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Jesus prepares a special place for believers in heaven.

John 14:1-3
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (NIV)

Believers are citizens of heaven.

Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. (NIV)

After their physical death, believers gain eternal life.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" (NIV)

Also:
John 10:27-30
John 3:14-16
1 John 5:11-12

Believers receive an eternal inheritance in heaven.

1 Peter 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (NIV)

Believers receive a crown in heaven.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (NIV)

also, please do not take my post as an attack on anyone, because it's not my intent, but I agree to disagree and I have a dead mother and just the thought that her soul is no where....well, I'm just not going there, because I simply disagree for the sake of my well being!

I do belive in the resurrection and I believe that the earth will be returned to it's original state. I do belived that some will go to heaven, some will fill the earth, which will be governed by God and his Kingdom in Heaven. I believe that I will see my mother one day in God's time and no one, regarless of your many bible verses will change my mind on that.

I'm sorry but I'm saying what the bible states and no where does that bible say that your soul lives on nor does it say that we go to heaven when we die.

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15

What people fail to realize is that angels have existed since God created the world. Angels are "older" than us, and older than our loved ones. They can easily know knowledge about a persons life that only we would know.

These are fallen angels masquerading as our loved ones, trying to deceive us into believing our loved ones are in heaven or hell and make Jesus to be a liar because he has clearly stated that death is a sleep 52 times.

There are many deceptions and Satan knows that one single lie wont be effective in deceiving everyone. So he came up with several. Some men would be deceived by Ghosts and reincarnation. Others would adopt an evolutionary philosophy, that the world created itself without God. Others would be deceived into believing in pagan gods, etc...

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15.

Here's an experience my Dad had where he prayed to see his sister and then finally did one day.

Prayer to See Loretta

I am from a family of nine brother's and sisters. My sister Loretta passed away at the tender age of 10yrs in 1961. I was about 8yrs old. After Loretta passed away I lived a sort of nightmare for the next two or three years. I could not stop thinking of my sister, I began to stammer with my words and virtually stopped talking. I was afraid to put my hand up in class for fear that I wouldn't be able to get the words out. I would cry everytime my sister's name was mentioned. I took on some of the chores Loretta would have normally done. I cried and I cried. All during this time after her passing I begged God to let me see her just once more, I would make up lyttel Prayers to God, I told him that I knew there was a Heaven and that I knew who he was. I told him that I knew Loretta was in Heaven and safe, but I just wanted to see her once more. When I was younger in Liverpool I had a habit of getting up in the middle of the night to melt some cheese on toast, I can remember doing that just about every single night. I guess in reflection I probably did that to have the house all to myself in the quiet night. Anyway, one night I get up, go down the stairs with full intentions of getting some toast and cheese. As I pass by the livingroom door at the bottom of the lancers, I notice that there is a light shining through the partially open parlour door. I was curious, so I entered the living room....... which was usually closed off to us kids unless Dad was around, all the hi-tech like the ''gas fireplace heater,'' ''phone,'' the ''TV'' and his comic books were in that room...... I entered the room and walked into the center, I can remember walking as if a soldier. When I reached the center I about faced to turn and look towards the back wall of the parlour..... opposite the front window...... this was where the blue white light seemed to be coming from, though the light was filling the whole room. This light was not too bright to look at. I was bewildered and filled with joy, my Prayer had been answered, for there in amidst the light was my beautiful sister Loretta. Loretta was floating off the ground about a foot, her feet were actually hanging, her palms were facing me and to this day, I believe that that's where the light emanated from. Loretta looked at me and smiled, I stood there like a soldier and smiled back. I was not afraid at all. A billion words went through my mind as Loretta smiled, everyone of them was good. Now at the age of 48, I believe I'm beginning to sort out all those words.

No, I'm not a Jehovah's Witness.

"Adam and Eve did not have the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse there unforgivable sin."

Ok in the Old Testament sacrifices represented what God was going to do for his people. So the innocent lamb to be slaughtered represented Jesus and the person placed there hands upon the lamb to transfer there sin to Jesus. Then the lamb was killed. The fat represented the sin and the blood was the cleansing.  Now that we have Jesus who came, we no longer need a lamb because Jesus was sacrificed. This is correct because Cain and Abel were asked to bring a lamb to be sacrificed, Abraham found a lamb caught in the thisles and sacrificed him. We see that sacrifices were to renew a promise to remain with God, to ask for forgiveness, for protection etc...
