The dead are buried, but in the bible it states that they are in a "sleeping" state until the second coming of Christ. Also, each religious denomination has their own beliefs. The Jehovah Witnesses, believe that the dead are dead until the second coming and judged then. As a Catholic, I believe that the dead are in a sleeping state and the soul is presented before Christ immediately after death. I have to believe that my mother's soul is somewhere!!!! She was such a kind,  compassionate, loving caring, CHRISTIAN, faithful servant of God and I know she is worthy of a ressurection. If I did not have hope in life after death, my life would not be worth living without her and I would have committed suicide a long time ago! I don't know where God has my mother's soul, but what I do know is that I will see my mother again one day in God's time and I do believe in the ressurection.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the son.

I agee absolutely with the above, but some will be in heaven and some will be on the new earth that will be restored to paradise. Heaven will govern over heaven and earth, so some to heaven some to earth, quite a few to hell!

I do know that my mother is resting in peace, because I feel it. She was such a kind, compassionate, loving, Christian who loved God above everything and everyone to the very end. God is love and merciful and I know that I must continue to have strong faith and live my life as a good Christian, so that mom and I can one day sit down and have a hot cup of coffee again, but this time, in paradise or heaven...I will take them both :)

I'm not afraid of death nor will I ever be afraid of death. I have stared its face when it took my mother from my arms. I had 7 deaths in an 8 month period. Everyone I have loved has died, so I'm not afraid of death. What I do want to do when God calls on me, I want to give Jesus a great big hug and a kiss and just look at his eyes....nice thought :)

I know how weird this sounds, but the biggest thing that scares me about death is dying. I mean this is the only house I have ever lived in and to part with it is scary!

I know its scary but think of the verse in the bible that says eye hasnt seen, nor ear has
heard the things God has prepared for those that love him.To me that means we cant begin to even imagine how wonderful of a life he has in store for us cause we have never seen anything close to it.I think alot like Judy the day I leave this body I will be with my mom .

I do not believe we go to hell or heaven when we die.

Death is a state of unconscious sleep until the resurrection when Jesus comes to awaken the righteous and the take the righteous living to heaven for 1,000 years.
John 11:11, 2 Sam 7:12, PSALMS 146:4, Ecc. 9:5,6

I don't believe that hell is a state of everlasting conscious torment, that people go to if they were bad in their lifetime. If hell was still happening then Sodom and Gomorrah would still be on fire. I believe that the wicked will be permanently destroyed after the millennium (millennium is 1,000 yrs when God is in heaven with the believers and Satan and the demons are bound to the earth with no one to tempt). After the millennium God will awaken the wicked dead and judge them along with Satan and they will burn and the earth will be made new, where the heavenly city will sit on the new earth.

The unrighteous living will die in Christ's appearing and when God returns after 1,000 years of reigning with the righteous in heaven; God will awaken the unjust in which they will try to overtake the holy city and lose. Then God will remake the earth by burning everything. And then the holy city will then sit upon the earth and sin will never come about again.

Titus 2:13; Heb. 9:28; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; Matt. 24:14; Rev. 1:7; Matt. 24:43, 44; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; 2 Thess. 1:7-10; 2:8; Rev. 14:14-20; 19:11-21; Matt. 24; Mark 13; Luke 21; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 Thess. 5:1-6.Rom. 6:23; 1 Tim. 6:15, 16; Eccl. 9:5, 6; Ps. 146:3, 4; John 11:11-14; Col. 3:4; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; 1 Thess. 4:13-17; John 5:28, 29; Rev. 20:1-10 Rev. 20; 1 Cor. 6:2, 3; Jer. 4:23-26; Rev. 21:1-5; Mal. 4:1; Eze. 28:18, 19.2 Peter 3:13; Isa. 35; 65:17-25; Matt. 5:5; Rev. 21:1-7; 22:1-5; 11:15

Death is a sleep, which the bible says 53 times. Also people who say they go to heaven or hell when they die is actually not biblical. The soul is not immortal only God is immortal and the KJV uses the word "soul" 1600 times but never once uses the term immortal soul.

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:5

The dead cannot hear you, nor can they pray for you because they are resting, awaiting God's return. It's comforting to know that when Jesus returns we will be reunited.
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Now tell me, what would be the point of God coming back to awaken the righteous if they're all in heaven? and how is the fair that some may be in heaven longer than others? Why do we tell people to be ready when Jesus comes when we can just wait till we almost die to be ready; that way we can just go directly to heaven?

Oh and when Jesus said to the thief on the cross he never said your going with me right now to heaven no. You have to be careful with that one because modern translations change that so it seems as though you go to heaven when you die. He meant as of today your home will be with me in heaven when I return. Remember the thief had asked earlier, "Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom" (Luke 23:42). The plain fact is that Jesus has not yet come into His Kingdom (Luke 11:2; 19:11; I Corinthians 11:26; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; I Corinthians 15:23, 49-52)! I think proper punctuation helps explain Luke 23:43. Most translations are improperly punctuated to make it appear that Jesus would be in Paradise that day. So the Bible proves Jesus was not in Paradise that day. A comma placed before the word "today" is incorrect. The comma should follow it: "Verily I say unto thee today, shalt thou be with me in paradise." By using the word "today," Jesus was stressing the time of His promise—not the time He would be in Paradise.

Anyways I hope you all aren't mad at me. But I really believe that believing this gives me hope of seeing my loved ones again.I know this beautiful truth is in fact valid and that's one of the reasons I look forward to Jesus's return.

I wonder what Adam will be thinking seeing how small we are because of sin. I don't think he had any idea of the magnitude of his decision or Ponitus Pilate seeing Jesus come in the clouds...  WOW! That will be a day...

That day will come and maybe in my life time, which would be awesome or no, but it will come and faith is what has kept me from doing something stupid. When mom died, I didn't want to live without her...I didn't know how nor did I want to, but now I have my 85 yr. old father to care for and I will be in peace when they are both together at least. I do belive that there will be a new heaven and earth...the earth will be a paradise and restored to what it was originally suppose to be. Adam and Eve will pay their wage in hell for what they did to humanity...throw in Pontius Pilate and Judas also.

We must continue our life journey, with all it's trials and tribulation, but one day our eyes will see Jesus Christ and I will be able to just hold and hug my mom again.

I remember right before my mom died I told her I was going with her,she said to me no you must live for your children at that time both my son & daughter were in there early twenties but still I really didnt think I could breathe without her.
I can remember the minute she died I screamed I cant live without you moma & my son with tears in his eyes said I cant live without you either mom it gave me some strength to make it one day at a time until I see her again & I know that day will come.
I can relate so much to Judy as she has said so many times that she just wanted to jump in the casket with her mother I felt that way.For now my faith, hope, will get me through,I remember in the bilble where it says Love never dies it is the only thing that lasts.

I dont' think Adam and Eve will be in hell.

They asked for forgiveness and they suffered enough knowing what they've done. I just don't think they know to what extent their sin caused.

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. Micah 7:18,19

They felt sorrow for sin. They were saddened by what they saw because of their sin and so they brought a lamb to be sacrificed. It represented Christ that was to be slain for our sins. The cleansing blood.

Adam and Eve did not have the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse there unforgivable sin. As a result of their disobediance, God regretted his creation and almost destroyed the earth. I they will probably not be resurrected, because their sin resulted in death and opening mankinds eyes and mind to knowledge that we would had not have. Am I wrong here? I welcome opinions.

Lisi251, I alway wake up in the middle of the night and think of my mom in her casket and how I have to live with the awareness that my mom is dead and in that dark hole....if I think about it too much, I feel I will go insane. Many times I have fallen on my knees right on top of her grave "wailing" in grief and sorrow call out to her, "mom, where are you that I can't see you"... I will never, never be the same. I wanted to die and be buried right next to her as close as possible to my mother and at times I have had horrible nightmare.

I think people who choose to believe they will not exist anymore when they die... they might fall into a "deep sleep", thinking they are dead. The Spirit can't die... yet it can go into a sort of "coma" according to the way I understand the Bible... caused from major emotional trauma... shock, regret, past sins which were never forgiven, terror, shame, loss of everything... including your body, etc... Yet when a Spirit wakes up out of that "coma"... it might only seem as though they just had a regular sleep... even after many, many years.

The parable of Lazarus and the Rich man in the Bible tells the story of Heaven and Hell. It tells a story of WHY a rich man can't enter Heaven... WHY it is more difficult for rich man to enter Heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. NOT because God doesn't allow a person entrance because of their past wealth.. or even greed... but because they desire their posessions, family, loved ones, etc., so much they will not leave them behind, they will not want to go to Heaven, but only desire what they once had. The more a person has, the more they will desire it when they lose it all. If a person has nothing, what will they desire from this life when they leave it behind? Nothing, so they will have no problem "losing everything" and go straight to Heaven since they had nothing to lose to begin with. Who can give away all of their belongings right this instant? I'm not ashamed to admit that I can't do this... yet one day I certainly will give away everything I have in death and will have to deal with it one way or another just like everyone else.

This is why Tibetan Monks do not love their belongings... and own few things so they will not desire them when they enter the afterlife.

One of the requirements of Jesus Christ to follow Him was to give away what you had if you were rich or to leave it behind... OR to simply leave behind your past life... since following Him is the death of the old life and the beginning of the new life. In order to have a new life in Heaven... we must be willing to leave behind everything no matter what.... that is why Jesus made those requirements. If we can't give away everything we have while we are alive... it will be just as difficult in the afterlife.

Sometimes though when a person "dies" they simply leave their body and go to Heaven, with little to no problem in doing so. Some people are afraid and shocked when they find themselves apart from their body yet fully aware and unable to speak to any "living" person... floating around through walls, etc, wandering, and unable to get back to their dead body... Some Spirits/Souls enter into animals... fish, pigs, deer, goats, cows, birds, etc. Some race to the nearest womb and are re-born, having no memory of their past life... or they enter a person as a "demon", inhabiting a living person's body.

I believe one of the main purposes for Jesus Christ being born on Earth was to show us the way to Heaven, the place where we all originally came from. Somehow the link was severed for many people... yet Jesus Christ came to re-establish that connection we have with God and eachother.

Constantly feeling bad about a loved one who has gone back Home to Heaven is not good. The one in Heaven wishes they could tell you that they are fine, yet they can't. Wouldn't you feel bad if you were fully alive in Heaven as a Spirit, full of life, with all passed away loved ones, ancestors, etc.... and someone living on Earth mourns over you all their life? Wouldn't you feel bad for the one who is living on Earth? When you accept that they had to go... they too will accept that they had to go. No parent or loved one wants to see those they love suffering... especially when the one in Heaven hasn't really lost anything, but has simply gone back home where their real belongings and treasures are.

Jesus Christ said how He wasn't from this World... I believe in many ways He was telling us that we all aren't from this World... Our Spirits... that means this isn't our true home, Heaven is. Some of us come here for a very short time, too short it seems. This life is like the blink of an eye in comparison to the life we've lived in Heaven... and will live there again.

When I think of my Grandma's and Grandpa's and other loved ones and friends who have passed away... I've always known that they are living in Heaven and can see everything I do if/when they feel like it. I can speak to them whenever I want... just with thoughts... And you can be guaranteed they have much better things to do than watch over me all the time. If any of them were lost and did not make it HOME, I've prayed they will be saved and they have been. If God sees just 1 Spirit who needs help, He will send someone to help them if they will accept the help or need it. The Good Sheperd will leave the flock to go after 1 lamb who is lost.

No, I'm not a Jehovah's Witness.

"Adam and Eve did not have the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse there unforgivable sin."

Ok in the Old Testament sacrifices represented what God was going to do for his people. So the innocent lamb to be slaughtered represented Jesus and the person placed there hands upon the lamb to transfer there sin to Jesus. Then the lamb was killed. The fat represented the sin and the blood was the cleansing.  Now that we have Jesus who came, we no longer need a lamb because Jesus was sacrificed. This is correct because Cain and Abel were asked to bring a lamb to be sacrificed, Abraham found a lamb caught in the thisles and sacrificed him. We see that sacrifices were to renew a promise to remain with God, to ask for forgiveness, for protection etc...

Here's an experience my Dad had where he prayed to see his sister and then finally did one day.

Prayer to See Loretta

I am from a family of nine brother's and sisters. My sister Loretta passed away at the tender age of 10yrs in 1961. I was about 8yrs old. After Loretta passed away I lived a sort of nightmare for the next two or three years. I could not stop thinking of my sister, I began to stammer with my words and virtually stopped talking. I was afraid to put my hand up in class for fear that I wouldn't be able to get the words out. I would cry everytime my sister's name was mentioned. I took on some of the chores Loretta would have normally done. I cried and I cried. All during this time after her passing I begged God to let me see her just once more, I would make up lyttel Prayers to God, I told him that I knew there was a Heaven and that I knew who he was. I told him that I knew Loretta was in Heaven and safe, but I just wanted to see her once more. When I was younger in Liverpool I had a habit of getting up in the middle of the night to melt some cheese on toast, I can remember doing that just about every single night. I guess in reflection I probably did that to have the house all to myself in the quiet night. Anyway, one night I get up, go down the stairs with full intentions of getting some toast and cheese. As I pass by the livingroom door at the bottom of the lancers, I notice that there is a light shining through the partially open parlour door. I was curious, so I entered the living room....... which was usually closed off to us kids unless Dad was around, all the hi-tech like the ''gas fireplace heater,'' ''phone,'' the ''TV'' and his comic books were in that room...... I entered the room and walked into the center, I can remember walking as if a soldier. When I reached the center I about faced to turn and look towards the back wall of the parlour..... opposite the front window...... this was where the blue white light seemed to be coming from, though the light was filling the whole room. This light was not too bright to look at. I was bewildered and filled with joy, my Prayer had been answered, for there in amidst the light was my beautiful sister Loretta. Loretta was floating off the ground about a foot, her feet were actually hanging, her palms were facing me and to this day, I believe that that's where the light emanated from. Loretta looked at me and smiled, I stood there like a soldier and smiled back. I was not afraid at all. A billion words went through my mind as Loretta smiled, everyone of them was good. Now at the age of 48, I believe I'm beginning to sort out all those words.

I'm sorry but I'm saying what the bible states and no where does that bible say that your soul lives on nor does it say that we go to heaven when we die.

"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." 2 Corinthians 11:14, 15

What people fail to realize is that angels have existed since God created the world. Angels are "older" than us, and older than our loved ones. They can easily know knowledge about a persons life that only we would know.

These are fallen angels masquerading as our loved ones, trying to deceive us into believing our loved ones are in heaven or hell and make Jesus to be a liar because he has clearly stated that death is a sleep 52 times.

There are many deceptions and Satan knows that one single lie wont be effective in deceiving everyone. So he came up with several. Some men would be deceived by Ghosts and reincarnation. Others would adopt an evolutionary philosophy, that the world created itself without God. Others would be deceived into believing in pagan gods, etc...

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15.

I do belived that some will go to heaven, some will fill the earth, which will be governed by God and his Kingdom in Heaven. I believe that I will see my mother one day in God's time and no one, regarless of your many bible verses will change my mind on that.
