I was wondering how your sister is doing? I hope everything is okay and she's on the way to recovery. Your family is in my thoughts!
Hospital sent her home on Friday and she was back in the hospital on Monday morning with still a high fever. She is having severe headache. They now have her on morphine and they are calling in an infectious specialist to see if they can find out where the bacteria is coming from. Thank you for your response.
My sister had a MRI done and came back abnormal (which e figured would happen. We talked to her Dr on Monday and he started her on a double dose of Chemo pill. Yesterday Wednesday, she was put back into the hospital. She was having a lot of pain, severe headache, and fever of 103.
They said she has a bacterial infection. They called last night to get permission to do a spinal. They are trying to find out were the infection is coming from. I have not been able to talk to her but was told she is disoriented and confused. Could this be from the cancer or chemo? I know the Chemo runs down your immune system. If she does have meningitis will anyone in contact need to be checked too?
Thank you for your help! Greatly appreciated!
Hi,
How is your sister? I understand your concern regarding this but it is difficult to say the exact time because of several factors. The type of glioblastoma, treatment, presence of other medical conditions, symptoms as well as her overall response to treatment are important considerations. Prognosis usually depends on the median survival rates and may range from months to years. It is best that you talk to her attending physician for proper evaluation. Take care and best regards.
