Should i push for an MRI

I am almost 33 yrs old. I have been having pains similar to a really bad kidney infection with added pain in my legs. My periods are heavy. I had an ultra sound done that revealed an enlarged uterus and what appeared like two endometriums. The gynocolgical team I was referred to bc of the enlarged uterus said since I had kids it was expected and they don't know why I have the pain since there's no infection. They also said they didn't think an MRI was necessary even tho the radiologist suggested it. I feel that I should have the MRI but should I not and just trust the Dr or go with my gut and have it checked? I have a family history of different kinds of cancer and the women in my family also have trouble with their reproductive organs.

Without having access to the actual radiology images and/or report, it is difficult to say. Two endometriums sounds like a uterine duplication anomaly, such as septate, bicornuate, or didelphys uterus, just to name a few. If further characterization is desired, MRI pelvis would be a reasonable next step but this is a conversation you need to have with your doctor. MRI could also be helpful ruling out adenomyosis, which can present with an enlarged uterus with painful, heavy periods.
