Glioblastoma grade IV

I have a friend just diagnosed with this and just had surgery to attempt to debulk the tumor with little success. My question is wouldn't it make sense to try the radiation and chemo first to try to shrink the tumor before the surgery instead of having to wait four precious weeks after the surgery to wait for the surgical areas to heal??

The surgeon apparently go more of the tumor than expected so that my friend is now doing radiation and then chemo.
