right chest pain, and tingling sensation.. lung cancer???

For about a year now i have been experiencing a slight discomfort in the right side of my chest. It feels like it is inside and it comes and goes. It doesnt hurt when i breathe in or out, it seems to hurt when i twist or move it. I am now experiencing that discomfort, plus a new tingling sensation in the same general area. the tingling sensation also comes and goes. I was a smoker, but not regularly. i would chain smoke at parties, but not everyday ( maybe off and on for three years) i was wondering if this could be lung cancer, emphysema, or anything else serious??

i was also suffering the same symptoms, i have done x-rays, ekg, and blood test but all are within normal limits.. i feel tingling sensation on my right chest as if there was a vibrating cellphone on it.. from time to time it comes for about  a minute then it goes away.. one thing i am concern of is that maybe i got this from doing a massage which make me do to much work on my upper chest muscle and shoulder..

I too am experiencing the same symptoms.  I do smoke regularly and have been for many years.  I am 34 and have been smoking since I was 20. I have no medical insurance so I did an internet search and found this site and your comment.  Have you seen a doctor?

Lung cancer is less common for people under 40, but that's only statistics. You are very young and chances are that you do not have a cancer. I know that it is very easy to suspect cancer for anything these days, but NOT everything is cancer!

The only way to know is to know is through your doctor. If you are truly concerned, convince your doc to give you an X-ray. You will never know until you actually have doctors look into it.

Again, chances are that you do not have cancer. But going to the doctors and being cleared sure beats hours and days of worrying and losing sleep over it! :)

i am going to be 20 in a couple weeks, and i have been smoking on and off for three years. .. ( not regularly, only socially)
it might be muscular, but the discomfort worries me. is it even possible to develop lung cancer this early? the discomfort/pain is in an area that i can only assume is in or near my lungs.

It sounds more skeletal/muscular.  You didn't say how old you are or how long you have smoked.  This is not a sign of emphysema which is shortness of breath, not pain.  The tingling thing, along with you being able to make it happen by moving makes me think it is not your lungs but skeletal or muscular, probably not serious.
