Squamous Cell CA of the Neck

My 82 year old dad was just (4/17) diagnosised with squamous cell cancer of the neck which has metastasized to the lymph nodes in the neck.  He had a barium swallow to look at his esophagus on Friday and on Monday goes in for a CT of his neck and lungs.  We live in Fairbanks Alaska and plan to travel to a Cancer Center somewhere.  Anyone have any recommendations? Good experiences? Sucess stories? Could use some encouragement.

Yeah my boyfriend has had the same treatment , lump from neck removed followed by intense chemo and radiation treatment lasting 8 weeks ..... All shown clear until about 2 weeks ago when another lesion was found on his vocal cord ....... Another biospy booked for a few weeks time to determine the lesion and then possible surgery to remove it again .... I'll keep you updated .

Best wishes to your dad
