How long to get an answer from pathology?

I was diagnosed with 3 cm right complex cyst. I haven't been feeling well for about 6 months. Periods were irregular, feeling exhausted all the time, nauseated not able to eat much but my waistline is expanding and I'm extremely fit.
My gyn booked me for a scope he said it was probably endo. No endo but he removed both tubes and the right ovary and a fibroid. I'm 49 and my gut feeling is not good. Scared! When my surgeon saw me after the scope he said he was surprised not to find endo as he was saying the cyst was probably an endometrioma. If they find cancer would I need more surgery? There was no oncologist present for the surgery. Is it a waiting game now ?

Hi,
I understand your concern and the length of time waiting for the results from pathology may vary. While results are usually out after 1-2 weeks, this may take a while for some tissue samples for confirmation. It is recommended that you discuss the results with your attending physician for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
