Heh heh...lord, that makes me feel dated. To me, good ol' fashion cartoons were "Bugs Bunny" and "Road Runner". We'd just started getting Japanime when I was a teen, which we were all excited about.
I don't know, perhaps someday I'll put on nick at night and see what they have to offer.
teehee CatShapedHeart3, i loved Rugrats...i was a little too old for gula gula island...but i was into blues clues for some reason haha even though i was in the 7th grade! LOL!
I looooooove tv, but i watch cartoons and i miss my toons from when i was a kid. When nick was good and not crappy and when disney rocked and cartoon network was good.
My fav shows were
David the gnome <3
Rugrats
Eurekas castle
Gula Gula island...
Zomg i could go on ;.;
tv ish healthy
oh i loved northern exposure...ill have to look at that ballykissangel...sounds good. speaking of television programs, ive been watching over and over again is Tin Man, it was a television mini series that played some time last year...its really good! i love it ive watched it twice through now and im working on watching it a third time.
We use it the same way, there are old movies you just can't get easily at the video store down the block. Plus, we both grew up with BBC, and you just can't get those at the video store as well.
We're watching a new series right now called "ballykissangel" (it's on instant watch) about an english catholic priest who's been sent to a small town named Ballykissangel in Ireland to minister to the people there.
It's a bit reminiscent of Northern Exposure (great show...have to check if they have it, now that i think about it) and pretty fun.
We were watching "Gaslight" the other night, a classic if I ever saw one. :)
i love netflix, my hubby wanted to get rid of it because he rents his new movies from the video store...but i have to have my old movies, im getting all the ones i grew up on...all the old disney movies, all the old musicals and golden age era movies. im a huge audrey and marilyn fan so i have all their movies on my queue....btw, the queue limmit is 500...and mine is maxed...and when i get a movie in the mail i go fill in the empty spot there are just so many that i love.
Judge Joe Brown is one of my favorites. Anyone who can be so insulting to others while literally talking out of the side of his mouth and leaning back casually on his bench is okay in my book.
I still say Wapner was the God of all Judges. :)
Judy is a God! My kids call me the "Judge Judy" of the road : ) I won't say anymore than that, wouldn't want to scare anyone : )
I also like Judge Joe Brown. He's been there and done it, so he knows.
criticisms: I don't like it when Judy calls people "stupid" and I don't like that Joe lets people get out of control.
How sad is it when you are calling them by their first name, yikes!
Thanks for the scoop on Fawlty Towers, I will try to find it.
Ha, ha! Me too! My family always tries to answer the questions before those little 5th graders get it right. It's a little humbling when you realize a 10 year old kid knows more than you!
And I LOVE Judge Judy, lol! She's so funny! She tells it like it is, that's for sure!
Sometimes I like the Montel show, too, but I hardly ever watch TV during the day. I also like 20/20 and 48 hours usually. Sometimes they can be depressing. I try to watch America's Most Wanted on Saturday nights. Gotta catch those bad guys!
Little house on the prairie reminds us of simpler times...*sigh*
Pa Ingalls was the father EVERYONE wanted. I used to watch "Little house" right before my parents carted me off to dance or karate class. It set the mood for the lesson, with strange results depending on which class I ended up at that day. :->
I knew I had to do something when I caught myself looking forward to "Judge Judy" daily. i was watching ALL the judge shows, and that's it. I realized I'd reached new lows in television watching... and my wife was giving me mucho grief for it.
I can't help it, there's nothing like a quick and dirty court case for base entertainment!
The only drawback to netflicks is some of the best stuff has to be rented. But they're very good about it, the turnover time if you watch it the day you get it is less than a week, usually 3-4 days.
I've seen "are you smarter than a fifth grader" and can't bare to watch it since i realized I'm not.:)
Oh my gosh! I forgot all about Quantum Leap! And I always loved Little House On The Prairie! Michael Landon was just the perfect, all wise father!
I miss all the old shows! I liked Mash too! And believe it or not I liked Love Boat and Fantasy Island, lol. Don't laugh!!! I was a young teen then!
I also liked Touched By An Angel and Promised Land. Yeah, I like all the nice, feel good shows too.
Right now my favorites are Extreme Make Over Home Edition, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, House, and I'm kinda liking that new one Hopkins, I think it's called? It's a hospital show with real stories and at least they don't have people hopping in bed through out the whole show! It seems like most of our shows are like that anymore.
I may have to check out the Netflicks. I've thought about getting cable just so I can see the old shows. They have such garbage out anymore, it's hard to find anything good to watch.
If you watch "Fawlty Towers" ever, check out the episodes "The Germans" and "basil the rat". We were just watching them and they're John Cleese at his best. rolling in the aisles here, with tears in our eyes from laughing to hard. :)
I'm a TV addict but thankfully have lots of cable stations so I rarely rent.
I recongnize your opening "And Now, For Something Completely Different"
I too was a Monty Python fan : ) The other shows, well I'm just going to have to tune in.
As for I.Q., so true, but what a way to go!
