Anyone have a cat that fetches?

I have had many cats over the years but my newest kitty, now a little over a year old is a first on this.  I threw his little furry mouse down the hallway so he would chase it and he brought it back to me and just dropped it right at my feet. I thought it was a fluke.  But I did it again and again and he keeps running after it, tosses it around with his paws a little bit then picks it up in his mouth and runs back to me with it.  He drops it right at my feet and waits for me to throw it again.  If I tell him to bring it to Daddy, most of the time he will run past me and then drop it at my boyfriend's feet.  It is awesome. Anyone ever have a cat do this or hear about it.  Not sure if breed makes a difference.  I have usually only had domestic short hairs..mostly Tigers/Tabbys. He was one of five in a litter.  The other 4 were all tigers but he is (or at least looks like) a chocolate point Siamese.  I know there are different fathers to a litter but I thought this was really amazing also!!.  I would love to hear from anyone else who's cat fetches!

That is so cute.  I used to do the same thing with my kitty; pick him up with his body leaning over my shoulder.  I could also hold him like a baby.  The Siamese ( and many cats) seem to be a one person cat and very protective over their owner.  They do need a lot of attention as I remember.  One time when I had just come home, my cat nipped me on the back side of my leg, not hard,  to let me know he needed attention.  If I had papers on the coffee table, he would start ripping them up if I wasn't paying enough attention.

I'll have to watch that video Maddie6.  Was thinking of doing one of Boo Bear because some of my co-workers don't believe I have a cat that fetches.  It seems though that we do have alot of fetching kitties.  I see now that it is not really that  rare of a talent.  This is my first Siamese and most all my other cats have come from the shelter.  Boo was from a stray's litter and a friend of a friend was looking for homes for them. So, I have never seen any of my cat's parents either. I do note one other thing about him and maybe this is also a Siamese trait...he needs a lot of attention and affection.  My other cats like to be petted and scratched and will sleep up against me but Boo wants to be held  alot.  He climbs up on me, rests his front paws over my shoulder and I hold him while he rubs his face all over mine.  I actually walk around with him and I bop up and down like you do with a baby patting his back like I'm trying to get him to burp.  He loves it and so do I.

Hi,
I see we have lots of kitties that love to fetch.  You know, I don't know too much about the Siamese breed except that I love their personalities.  They are quite the talkers, too.  That is interesting about your kitty coming out of a litter of all black/grey stripped tigers.  It does take a while for them to adapt to the harness and leash. I wonder if he would walk with you?  I adopted my cat from a shelter, so I didn't get to see his parents.

Fetching is both my cats' talent. When I adopted my older cat, I noticed he liked to fetch pretty much the say way you noticed. Then I adopted a second cat from the shelter. Turns out he fetches, too.

Here is a video of my older cat, Abby playing fetch lol

OH YEAH-  I've got a DSH grey tiger stripe- Lucy- that loves to play fetch.  Especially with her rattle mice.  When I first got her and Taz I was extremely depressed and didn't realize it.  She kept bugging me with her mouse so I threw it down the hallway to get her to leave me alone- She brought it back- over and over.  She made me laugh when I didn't feel much like laughing.  It's amazing what kitties do for depression.  My half siamese doesn't fetch, but he has his beanie baby-  Don't get a kitty a beanie baby when he's little- We had to take it away from him because he can wake up the household yowling at it.  Woud rather have him fetch.  :)

I've had several cats that would fetch.  Right now, our Abby (Maine Coon), will fetch and bring the toy back for you to throw again.  My departed Robear, would fetch anything you would throw for him, but especially his favorite toy.  And, my Burmese cat, Metaxa, loved to fetch too.  It's funny how some will fetch and others will just look at you like "yeah right!"  LOL!!!!

Thanks for replying.  So, maybe there is a chance it is the breed.  We tried walking Boo Bear in a harness and leash. He would walk about 1/2 foot and then just drop down on his side and lay there looking up at me.  I would coax him up and again he would do about 1/2 foot and down again. Tried it a few times but it didn't work.  I guess his dog characteristics are limited to fetching only. LOL Do you know alot about Siamese cats and any idea why one would come out of a litter of all black/grey stripped tigers. From what I have read and pictures I have seen he is all Siamese without any markings otherwise that would indicate he came from anything other than Siamese parents. I saw the mother of the litter and she was short haired and had that Russian Blue look to her.   She was just a stray in the neighborhood of the woman who I adopted Boo from.  I just think it is really fascinating that this would happen.

Hi,

I'm a little partial to the Siamese breed.  I had a Siamese mix Flamepoint kitty that would actually sometimes reach his paw out and bat one of those little balls that cats love to play and roll around.  I would throw it to him, and he started batting it back to me.  I couldn't believe it the first time I saw him doing it.  He was more like a little dog and would take short walks with me without a lease, just walking side by side.  He was a little skiddish though and would then make a fast track back home  if he saw a stranger.
