Beau's swollen,bee-stung paw

I was watching TV today, with Beau sleeping beside my chair.  All of a sudden he was zooming across the room, chasing a great big black bee.  He jumped up on the window sill & cornered the bee, while I ran and got a canning jar and a piece of cardboard to trap the bee.  I caught the monster bee and released it off the deck.  Beau curled up beside my chair again & resumed his nap.

An hour or so later I noticed that his left fron paw was swollen.  It's really swollen.  I called an emergency vet hospital where I'd taken Fluffy in the past, and they suggested I bring him in for an exam.  I know how expensive they are, so I asked what to look out for (vomiting, trouble breathing), and have been keeping an eye on my little guy.

Beau has been a really active guy since I adopted him a month ago, but he's been pretty much napping all afternoon,  He walks on the foot, but it's clearly not totally comfortable.  He's been licking it, too.  He did eat some dinner, but instead of his nightly DaBird wild chasing, he's on his sleeping blanket on my bed.

I think I'll have a hard time sleeping tonight, wanting to watch and make sure that he's OK.  Send some healing thoughts his way, please!

I just saw his paw, K.  That really swelled up.  I'm happy to hear Beau is feeling better this morning.  It's always such a relief when they start to play again, isn't it.  Good for you for not panicking and running up a vet bill!

Oh, yeah, he's feeling better!  I was lying in bed, typing my last post on my android phone.  My arms were under the blankets, Beau on his blanket beside me.

All of a sudden he attacked my moving elbow, grabbing & kicking at it.  I laughed, move my hand around under his blanket, & he got excited, jumped around, pulling his blanket (and himself) off the bed.  Guess it's time to get up!

I'm so happy that he's much better this morning!  My roommate came in at 4 am & asked if I wanted her to feed him; I was sleeping to soundly after my worrying last night.  He went into her room & woke her up.  :o)

His paw is almost back to normal, though he's still not running around like his normal jungle cat on caffeine self, lol.

I posted a picture of his swollen paw last night.

I hope that there won't be any more bees in the house, or if there is, Beau won't get very close to them!

poor little Beau, this happened once to one of mine and she forever stayed her distance from bees after that!!...I hope he slept as usual all night and is fine this a.m. I found one site with some info on bites(not alot) maybe if others know of a better site to post it for us all to know...
It does sound as though if the reaction was going to be severe it would have happened almost immediately, so I'm assuming he's alright this morning. please let us know...♥

Oh I am so sorry to hear this.  Please do keep us updated.  Get him into the vet if you feel that he needs to be seen.

Love,

Rhea and Stardust!
