I acquired a kitten a few months ago. He is about 6-7 months old and came from a barn where they had many cats (at least 30). From day one I noticed the cat just was not well. He was very congested and had goopy eyes. We got that problem cleared up with some antibiotics. He seems to get congested again as soon as he goes off the antibiotic so the vet just gave us a new one to try which seems to be going well. We wormed him shortly after we got him, but noticed last week that he had very soft poop once again and observed a tapeworm. We took a stool sample to vet on Friday who said they saw no worms, but decided to treat for tapeworm since I saw one on his hind leg. Medicine was given on Friday and 3 days later he still has extremely soft poop. Wherever he sits he leaves a little pile of poo. I am at my wits end as he sits on my patio furniture and is getting poop everywhere. Any ideas what I am dealing with? I am allergic to cats so have never had one as a pet before and agreed to let my son get 2 barn cats. The other cat we got at the same time is doing great and is an excellent mouser! Not sure where to go from here as I don't want to spend a ton of money at the vet on a barn cat, but want him to be healthy. We feed dry cat food and he eats very well. Any ideas? Thanks so much!
