bad news:Loreena is at the hospital since 9am today

We dont know what is really going on.
She had stayed home  since 4pm yesterday cos it was  a rainy day and all was fine, playing ,eating
About 11pm she was sleeping in a weird place(near the toilet, on the floor)and position and that worried me a little but I assumed she was just tired of the kids
By the moment i went bed I had to rescue her from under the furniture, and pĺace her on her basket.
Breath was a little acelerate and I already having a terrible bad feeling. For some reason  I could go bed and sleep.
Today morning I found her in the same place ( inside the basket) And  a poo not so bad near that, meaning she was not able to go litter, the more she could was not poo in the basket, poor one...
Took her vet  without any calling this time, girl was like a ragdoll,i didnt dare do more than put some antitoxical on her mouth and go there.
I had to wait for 3 dogs to be attended and this time I knew my baby was not fine
Vet could not measure her temperarature, so low it was - 32C if I'm not mistaken
He put her on fluids and me outside room cos at this moment I was already crying.Pick some blood for lab tests ( that only will be ready at night, if so - he asked urgency, but the will pick the sampler after 12pm.He's susppectig diabetes, glicemia was  a lot  high and she took some insuline already
At this moment she is there,I have a future big bill waiting for me ,an much, much ,much fear about everything.
Shes not lying on that weird position anymore - but that is all the progress i can see
Cage is big ,I cant touch her.And she had one eletric heater,so i guess its the best we can offer there now
I was there twice already , second one I let Blue ( a toy she enjoys sometimes, arms and legs  are cords) with her, hope it keeps my smell and make her feel  a little better
Its all folks, i cant keep posting with tears rolling by

Guys  at the clinic are simpathetic but I guess i will could only visit her again after 18pm.Theres no news by now, anyway.
Hope i can return soon with good news...

Poor Loreena with her hunger strike.  I was telling my husband this morning about her and the antics with her "heartbreaking meowing" then finally, the Hunger Strike.  It's really cute the way you describe, Apple.  It sounds like Loreena is feeling much better with the only problem of wanting to escape and you're feeling better too and finally got a good nights sleep.  Sorry you had to see the dentist on top of everything.  That's never fun.

Opus, good luck with Sami issues.Hope he gets better soon
Took Loreena to the clinic today - vet there today was the one that knows less about her ( of course there's a medical register but I do prefer the ones that faced the stuff :-) "on live")
But he said she is fine, no matter what had happened to her.No mentions about new tests by know
I had already searched prices  in one humane lab ( they do animal stuff as well)and they are 1/3 - but they dont collect material!
My exams bill at the clinic was R$150,00 ( including glicemia ones.- and they dont give discounts since tests are done in another place)
The same exams without glicemia at the humame lab are r$44,00
there. If I get some vet to pick material for me I will send there, no doubts ( Loreena previous vet charged me  a lot once and sent it exactly there!)
But i'm glad they dont want this now, cos  it would be  a hell convince one - and I would hacve to take girl there to the clinic again ( today was too late to take sampler to the lab if I could manage to get some)

Loreena was starting her not eating strike already - but could not resist to a few chicken yesterday night. She had resisted to ham paste...
Today she was doing the same - but she was hungry for yesterday yet and a small portion of Whiskas sache make her eat her food easily

Bout me , I always fell better after proper sleep time, and i got some, thank lord
But just today someone told me the resine at my frontal teeth had fallen - I have no idea when it was, since I'm brushing those appart of the mirror and not paying any attention to for a  week.
Left Lolo home and went to set a dentist ( mercifully this one is already paid, I still have a basic  dental plan )
Set for next week,Wednesday - oh, my! The faster I get..

Me, too, Apple. I'm happy to hear Lolo is on the mend.  That was scary.  I hope you're feeling better, too.  It is tiring having a sick animal...and expensive.

Opus...Thinking of you and Sami.

Linda...Love the kitty hugs!

hi App, I'm so happy Lolo is recovering, what a relief to you. but I also understand your worries about letting her out again and also not knowing exactly what caused all this....and now your left with all the costs too.
Its still puzzling to me that her temp. went so low, usually with an infection the temp will spike UP....I hope you get more answers from your Vet when you go for that check up...
Yes dear its all 'one day at a time' for us all. I wish you some better days ahead with better luck. My Sami too is having mysterious symptoms that are costing me more than I can afford right now. lets hope for a good turn out for both our kitties...♥

News
Mc cats family behaviour is almost normal again.
Lolo was driving me crazy on the weekend. She now not only scratches the door, she also looks for the backpack I put her to walk sometimes, sniff her leash ( no doubts she will start grabbing that as a dog soon) and, last resource she got - uses the pledging heartbreaking meowing ! (she never had done it - she' almost dumb)
Last step will be no eating strike,I just hope we can skip that
She has a  new vet appointmant ( retorno) tomorrow, and will be the last day of the medicines, unless  vet change something. Poo was not so bad last time I saw and she's taking the oral medicine quite easily, today I put not deeper enough but she swallowed e licked.Taste is not bad, definitly - uff!

My 2 fears  at this moment are
1- They wanting new lab tests to check if the infection was gone _ I still have to pay those, this week.( plus 3  monthly instalments of "others")I cant afford nothing more!
2-Girl returning to her normal life without me knowing what exactly she had/has
I wonder if she had that on the street or outside will she get safe?
Could a cat survive outside with 32C grades? What if she had decided for lying under a car and not  under my wardrobe?
Better not think about - since my eye problem may life has been "like anonimous alcohoolics life" - just for today!
Just for today its all right here, and I have to be happy for...

I'm sorry, Apple....I didn't mean to suggest you weren't keeping a close eye on Loreena and the kids.  I know how dedicated you are to them.  But when you were talking about Loreena climbing the tree with the leash trailing behind and hoping for a rotten collar rather than a hanger cat...well it conjured up all kinds of images for me.  I'm sorry I let my imagination run away with me.   Love You, Linda  >^-^<

Apple, we know how cautious you always are and how well you care for Loreena and the kids...you are a great mommy.
Lolo's symptoms are a puzzle for sure, so bear with us as we try to help you sort some of this out.
I too wondered about toxins or poison exposure.she is showing some unusual signs that all came up so quickly...like you said she was fine and playing shortly before.
when you get her blood work, post it and I will try to determine what the tests show(in my very limited ability)...
here is a site that talks about common household toxins and the signs of poisoning, read thru it all and see if theres anything on there that she could have been exposed to....

Also WHAT is the antitoxic you gave her?

dear, of course leash for loreena means me at the other end :)
Means me having to take forced sunbath together standing on her side ( everytime I sit on the floor she moves)
Im not crazy - and for kids nor this way, I dont trust them very much
And grab the leash very very hard, after that episode when she was quietly sleeping and run away with suddenly

About the possibility of poisoning, that would be my first idea,( even not knowing who in hell could be the **** but all the context makes this higtly improbable this time
See: it was a rainy day and she was coming and going from the backyard - and no one except me was home.About 4 pm she decided for be inside again and i closed the door
She stayed normal happy and playful til 11PM - any poison would have acted faster, dont you think so?
No vomit, no diarrea, no convulsions
Gave her a few antitoxic next morning just in case she hd eaten something inside - a bad bug, maybe?
No trusting it will help, not really
It s  a real puzzle

Linda, I think she's right there watching and could make a rescue should Loreena get hung up.  Knowing Apple, she's probably not but a few yards away, if that. We had to do the same thing with Abby when she was so ill - she would NOT use a litter box and being an outdoor cat, she was going crazy inside so we did the same thing and took her out on a harness both for her peace of mind and ours.

Apple, that's great to hear Loreena progress.  I'm with Linda - gosh, maybe she was poisoned.  The meds will make her stool unusual, you're right about that.  You're doing a wonderful job taking care of everyone as always.  And medicating your cats by yourself makes you my hero!

Apple, did they do a glucose test on Loreena and was that in the normal range?  If so, then if it's an infection she should be getting better day by day.  Do you think there is any possibility that someone around there could have given her something thay may have poisoned her?  I sure hope not but it's always an unfortunate possibility. Just trying to come up with any and all possibilities.  Remember awhile back when Loreena was so afraid of something....did you ever come up with what it was.  Maybe somebody is out to get Loreena.

Apple, I wouldn't let her out of the house on a leash...unless you are at the other end of it.  That could be a real didaster if she got hung up....also easier for someone else to catch her.  I'm not trying to scare you but I just want you to be wary and aware.

Everybody is eating but only Joy eats the dry food alone - Joy and Loreena just sniff the stuff and wait for me to add some whiskas sache. I give up and do - at least by now...
Fight is over, thank lord
Lo's poo was quite bad today but this is probably due to the remedie .Except for that she is very well, the best way possible considering she ( and everybody here) is having many changes in the routine
Now she cannot eat with kids in the morning ( for the fastening) so i take her to the living and the poor stay there hopeful for going outside.
After feeding kids- and now I need supervise it - i go there , give Lo the pill and I cant help put her on  a leash and go outside for
some  brief walk
Them I enter again - of course she wanted stay there and wait til abou 11am to give her the other medicine and feed her
More fast walk and shes locked with the kids again cos I have things to do on the city - including check things with her vets or buy cat food sometimes. On the way I pick something for myself - when I remember :-)
Lolo climbed a tree once today - using the leash! This walks have to be very carefully monitored cos the girl is getting crazy for her freedom again.
If she jumps from there using that ,the best we get its a rotten collar, the worst a hanger cat...
But I have to allow her doing some crazy things or I will have a stressed not eating cat again
About the lab tests, maybe i post them  later on , vet said he sent me but I still have to check - and translate it.
Both  hemogram (white cells  and red ones) and ureia/creatinina shows some alterations but no one told much more than they means infecction.

Hey kid, sounds like you are worn out, but Loreena is so lucky to have such a caring human as a guardian.  We can't not help our little friends who give so much of themselves to us.

Good luck, I hope Loreena heals well and fully...and I hope you take care of yourself, too.

Best - Pip

I am so sorry for you, Apple.  You must be about ready to drop from exhaustion.  I'm happy to hear Loreena seems better. That's good news.  And I sure hope it doesn't turn out, she has diabetes.  The girls behavior is very odd and I can't imagine what's going on between them unless they are simply stressed with Loreena being ill, but that's not what it seems.  My thoughts and prayers continue to be with you, honey!  Praying very hard for a good outcome for everyone!

Big ((((Hugs))))...♥

Glicemia was ok yesterday = mercifully no one wanted keep checking daily
About the cause they said she had an acute infection( based on the lab results- that i cant pick yet and she using Amoxiline+clavulato de potassio ( antibiotic)
One of those vet say is  bacterial one
Quite inespecific I guess - I never sow  any infeccion that makes you froze instead of geting fever
And Omeprazol ( to protect the stomach against the first) - this one seems to  be working ,since she's accepting that oral suspension quite well til now
Antibiotic 's Flavor dont seems to be so bad ( i'm compulsively biting my finger so I tested by accident...)

Vet that had discard diabetes change his mind and said the possibility is still there, but the checking last times was ok,lets hope it was only stress caused

First night she returned home was scaring, and I thought thousands of times if I should or not take her home .She was crazy for leaving, til ate that chicken for...
And one more night there would increase some more bucks to the bill ( but not sooooo many ,lets say money enough for buying her cat food or  some cheap medicine
Lolo is doing well, but my biggest worry is/was now about the kids
At this moment I'm,slightly relieved(please keep praying  A LOT,I know this is helping) cos today by the lunch time I saw her finally eating a little better ( the sachet, guess they dont love chicken as much as Lolo)
Chiken had worked quite bad yesterday night, lolo gladly grab hers but kids,it was a fight convince Lucky to get some .Not to mention they throw the pieces on the floor first, then lick the dirty stuff and take a life to swallow,if so.
Definitly,I wont have patience if was  an humane kid...
Together with eating a little better they also were not hissing each other and meowing  the way they are previously,at least for some minutes I saw a glimpse of the normal family
Situation was getting critical and as many other details of this story nothing makes much sense at all
Yesterday they started stop eating,I saw Lucky doing  a movent like she was about to spit a fur ball but nothing cames
No vomit as well
From there to today all i had seen was Joy accting quite agressive with Lucky, demonstrating irritation or pain ( vocal demonstration)
And Lucky basically not eating,afraid  and/or stressed maybe
Peeing ok but no sure about drinking I stuffed some water.on her by force once
I seriously believed it was pain- hope I was and keep complety wrong
Putting both apart, didnt work - Lucky was  afraid of her but wanted to be with her!!!
They do everything together since  they are babies

I have no idea about what can be happened while nor Lorena nor me was there but sounds like the kids had some real fight without Loreena to watch

Considered seriously the possibility of taking both to the hospital, and I was there to talk with vets, all the ones I met on the way.Taking them there would mean one more apt( Two cats)plus transport ( if I need that in  a time they had one)
But the first I talked confirmed my suspicious, that probably they would ask exams and others later on
So I went home as lost as i nowadays am cos LoLo is supposed to take her pill in fastening and eat and take the other one hour late and the time for the second  was coming
Mercifully after feeding and medicating her, I grabed the sache i had offered her - shes not eating 100% dry cat food yet) today ( no time for cookings) and take for the kids that for my happinesss accepted and ate that plus some dried one... ( not normal amount, but they did!)

All I hope its the situation be the same whem I try again today
Its all by now

Oh, Apple, yes, you sound just overwhelmed.  I wish I lived near you to help.  I'm glad to hear Loreena is feeling better enough to be home and that's good news about the glicemia test.  It's a nightmare trying to  keep an outdoor kitty, inside, I hear you.  I wish they understood it's for their own good. Big Hugs to you all, Sweetheart.  I know this is hard.  We're here for you.  No worries about your post either.  I understand you perfectly.  (((♥)))

Apple, I just read about Loreena and I am so sorry you and she are going through this. Does the Vet have any idea what caused this so suddenly?  I will be praying that she will get well and be able to go back home with you soon.  Love and hugs to you both ((>^.^<))
