cat acting strange

A few weeks ago my cat, who is not that old but not that young, jumped on my desk and immediately make a painful meow/ screeching noise before running off. She acted normal a while after that, however she has meowed during the night while sitting outside of a door to a room that is never open, because the room has been used for storage (it used to be a bedroom, I think she wa ts to go inside bit this may or may not be related to the other problems). Recently, while meowing constantly at midnight next to the door to the room I mentioned, I approached her and she made the same strange shreiking noise  and ran off. Should I take her to the vet or is this behavior normal? What is wrong with her?

I would definitely check out the storage room to make sure there's no unwanted critters in there or something. Also, my cat meowed outside a door that we were using as a storage room at our old house, and it turned out she had kicked a straw that she had been playing with under the door and was upset she couldn't get it back out. Sounds silly, but it's worth checking! Also it could very well be that the kitty is getting senile and forgetting where she is, I've had that happen in the past too, especially late at night when it's dark. One of my cats does that almost every night now actually. Once I say her name and call her and she jumps on my bed she stops. But I would definitely call the vet and ask to speak to someone about her screeching when she jumps on something, if it sounds like she's in pain. They might tell you it's nothing, or to keep an eye on it, or they may ask you to bring her in. But etiher way, it's worth getting checked out.

Hi O,

Cats are very intuitive and can sense things we humans are completely oblivious to'.

When our cats act strangely or meow a meow we do not recognize, it is important we Listen. They are trying to tell us something. Sometimes it is because they are sick and in need of medical attention. In your case since she is fixated on a room that has been closed off and is unused, she may sense something is going on in that room.
If I were you I would check out that room top to bottom. Especially check electrical outlets and air ventilation ducts.

There was a case just recently where a families cat kept waking them up and meowing next to the kitchen stove. Finally they got her message. One of the burners was not completely turned off and gas had been leaking for hours. They could not smell it, she di, and likely saved her families lives.

So please do not ignore your little girl she needs you to listen to that mournful MEOW for a reason--it may be to save your life or hers.

.....Now of course she could just be getting senile and forgets where she is sometimes, I can identify with that, LOL.

It could also be that some little critter has decided to take up residency in your spare bedroom, so be prepared for anything. Do check it out , though.

If all this fails to turn up a problem a visit to the vets should be your next move.

Keep us posted as to what you find out. This could be interesting!

P.S. It is close to Halloween after all, LOL!

Best of Luck in resolving the mystery
