Eye discharge

My cat had eye discharge I took her to the vet and was told she has Herpes. She has beautiful blue eyes and no swalling or redness. The vet gave me some eye drop that was made in their office ( I was told this is not over the counter medication) . After using the medication for about 4 weeks, I noticed my cat's eye had small patches of black spots in them. I took her back to her doctor and was told I should not warry about it. I am concern if I damaged my cat's eye by using too much eye drop. She still has some discharges.

Felline herpes virus is very common.  About 80% of cats are carriers and about 1/2 of those show periodic or chronic symptoms.  It is an auto-immune condition, so nutritional support such as l-lysine and probiotics which provide some general immune system support are helpful but will not treat specific symptoms.  TFT is an antivirial prescribed specifically to treat eye symptoms resulting from herpes virus.  The black spots may be a symptom of the herpes itself (corneal scarring or ulcerations) but is not likely to be the result of using TFT.  However, after 4 weeks of using TFT, whatever improvement in symptoms she now has is likely to be about as good as it will get and continuous usage is not likely to result in further elmination of symptoms for the current flare up..

hi, I don't know what you are/were using so can't really comment, but if your Vet looked and said it was OK than I hope thats correct.
Did the Vet also tell you to use L-lysine? its a supplement avail at any drug store or health food store..sprinkle about 500mg into her food. this is an amino acid supplement and very effective against herpes.
good luck and please post again if we can be of some help..♥
