My cat licked my chex mix?

I recently learned that salt is bad for cats, which I assume Chex Mix has a lot of. My cat licked the "bread" part of it, those crunchy round dark brown pieces?

I think she'll be okay because just one piece can't have a lot of salt to hurt her and she eats salty things sometimes, but exactly how bad is salt for cats?

Hello kc6201,

Please don't tell cat owners that even a small amount of chocolate is okay to give their cats.  Chocolate, even a small amount, can make a cat very sick.  Chocolate should not be given to dogs either in any amount.

If she gets an occasional lick of something salty, don't worry about it, but stick to cat food and cooked meat.

She just licked one? lol.  She'll be fine.  Even things that are "toxic" to cats and dogs like chocolate they can eat in small quantities and usually be totally fine. I honestly never heard that salt is poisonous to them though.  I just got a cat about a month ago. He likes licking the cheese flavoring off popcorn and chips.  He's fine :)
