yes canned food is much better for them....
perhaps the fast switch from being weened than onto another diet is what caused the runny poop...
if necessary keep him on the dry for a bit longer than when you do switch him over to canned do so very slowly....like no more than 25% of wet added per day than slowly increase this amount if no bowel problems...
the the best canned diets are ones that are GRAIN FREE...b/c so many cats are allergic to grains...this could also have been part of his problem(?)
you can buy these at any good pet supply store. some good ones are Merrick, Natures Variety, Go...there are many, they are more expensive of course but you'll find grains are just fillers therefore a cat will eat less of a good diet than one filled with grains..btw even potatoes are considered grains..
i got him right after he was weened from his Mama....and i started him right out on canned food because i have heard canned was better for him.....can you recommend a brand that would be really good for him....after i notice the runny poop for 3 or 4 days i switched him to solid food..after being back on the solid kitten food again...the stool became for solid again.....it just really worries me and i don't want him to get sick on me....
thank you very much
for the first response
are you feeding dry right now and he's having runny poop? you can sure feed canned but do a transition over a few days or can become really loose....if he's already loose on dry food it could be something in the ingredients that he's intolerant too...
canned food is much better to feed than dry any day....you will save the difference in Vet bills over time:)
