Mysterious black stuff on muzzle

Quick query. My cat has developed some slightly raised black stuff underneath his nose. Can't seem to find anything close to it online. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts of what it could be? It just started appearing one day about a week ago and has increased in size since then. Picture attached.

Hi opus88, thank you very much for your advice, you're right it does look like feline acne, I was a bit thrown by placement initially. The furries normally do have ceramic food and water bowls but they sometimes use the automatic cat feeder which is plastic (and probably the culprit). I guess I'll be getting up at 7 am on the dot on the weekends for morning feed.....!  :)

Hi, have you researched feline acne? Although that normally apprears on their chin it looks the same. If you are feeding from plastic water and food dishes try changing to ceramic or metal, plastic harbours bacteria and can cause feline acne
