Sometimes Akira comes into the bathroom if I'm soaking in the tub.  She just has to investigate.  I'm always careful not to splash her.  Often when she comes in like this she will come nose to nose to me.  She often feels compelled to just look at all that water.  Just look, mind you.  I saw that playful expression in her eyes as I took out the plastic jaw hair clip, so I set it upright on the edge of the tub.  She just had to bat at it.  So, I put it back up on the edge of the tub to see what she would do.  Again, she just had to bat at it.  This went on for about ten cycles before she decided she was bored with that game.  It was pretty cute while lasted.

If Akira had thumbs, she would probably turn on the heating pad herself, too.  This one needs thumbs.  It has a auto-shut off timer.  I just thought it was funny that within the same evening that Akira discovered the heating pad that she had already figured out how to ask mommy to turn it back on for her.  I always have to laugh when a cat does something clever like that.  What can I say, when they do something that clever it really is pretty funny, too.

I have absolutely no doubt that your Beau is quick on the button, too.  Cats are a lot smarter than non cat people give them credit for.  That's such a big part of the charm of keeping a cat as a pet.  Not the only thing, but definitely a big thing.  Gotta live our kitties!

aww just goes to show how intelligent they really are..of course Beau caught on quicker than even most would!!!......my boyz don't ask to have mine turned on-(

Just a couple of days ago, Akira discovered my heating pad.  Anyone with a cat knows what this means.  :-D  What I thought was so funny and clever was this little cat learned quickly how to ask me to turn the heating pad on her.  Like by the very evening after she discovered the heating pad she had already figured out how to ask me.  Undoubtedly, this is partly because we are so closely bonded and I understand her very well, too.  Still, I had to laugh at how quickly she figured out how to ask me to do this.  Check out the last cartoon on this page of cat comics.  Cat people just know...

Akira sounds like a little ham, love the bathtub games...-) Sami loves to hide behind the shower curtain than mommy has to 'come find me'...and I of course am surprised each time...clever boy.

I love it when cats do something a little bit unexpected that shows their cleverness.  Sometimes she invents a kitty game all on her own without any hints from me.  They all do it, of course, but it's pretty cute when they do.
