Old Blind Cat

My cat is 18 years old and has lost his sight (within a week)...Vet says it is detached retinas, and probably caused by high blood pressure. There is medication for this problem, but he will never regain his sight...He has also lost
hearing quite a bit.  I love him dearly and had him since a kitten.   He is part siamese, so always has been
a verbal cat.   My problem is he just constantly meows, even throught the night, when he wants to go from
one room to another....I work a job and have not slept in 2 weeks due to his demands...Please help, I don't
know what to do.  Sleepless in Florida.

Did he has both retinas detached?
Poor creature,I had one,I'm a humane and could have some repair and a IOL later on - he must be very confused.
Its shocking lose your vision - I always wondered how it would be if happened to my cats.
Retina Detachments are caused sometimes for high intra ocular pressure  - and this is humames is called glaucoma. It was not my case but maybe your cats case
Or its just part of the aging process, all organs become fragiles...
Wishing you much luck and strenght to go away and help him the best way possible
Hang in there!

This must be very frustration, both for you and your cat.  He is at the least very disoriented and at must may be having other internal organ failures due to age and/or the high blood pressure which may be causing him a lot of pain.  You could try confining him to one room or a crate.  His meowing could be from the insecurity that comes with the sudden complete loss of one of his senses.  If that doesn't help, I would talk to the vet about other possible physical ailments and make your decision from there.
