Hi Jerry,
Catch us up on you kitty's eating habits. What have you found out? Please keep us posted.
Thanks CML
I'm curious too, did the Vet do some bloodwork?
yes paper pellets also would expand, but I thought perhaps the taste would be different and therefore not inclined to eat them?....geez wish I could be of more help. I wouldn't think even Dr. Elsies very good litter would be advisable to ingest no matter what the claim...
I found these trays again on amazon, they have a washable grass like surface that doesn't use any pellets of any kind, do you think your kitty would use something like that? sure would be worth a try....

Hi Jerry,
I am curious. Did your et tell you what the underlying cause of your kitty's "Litter Buffet" , might be?
opus88, thank you for taking the time to search and find this link. When we went to the vet with this problem he also suggested to try paper pellets. So we asked him if we can see what will happen when pellets will get wet. We did experiment right there. We poured water on the pellets and surely they started to expand significantly, even a few of them in the water made a mess so that choice was not for us considering that our cat would eat it. We chosen Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior Litter (http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754844)
only because on the box says that it is safe even when ingested. Of course I would prefer something more natural but we tried everything and she still eats it
Annie, of course we are not letting her eat any of the litter we had or have right now. The problem is in the night or when we are at work when we cannot watch her all the time. She has to have an access to the litter. Besides the healthy cat food she has every day we also bought her vitamin supplement and she eats it but unfortunately that does not stop her from trying any kind of litter
It's definitely dangerous to let a kitty eat one of the clumping types of litter.
I'd vote it's a sign of a vitamin deficiency. Can you get some high-end kitty vitamins?
this is VERY dangerous.....I have searched and couldn't find the site I was looking for but did find one you need to read!!!
have you tried Yesterdays News? this is made of paper pellets at least perhaps one of the least dangerous? or use puppy pads?
I remember reading this was a sign of a certain disease but darn if I can remember what? hyperthyroidism is just a guess. I really suggest you have your cat in for some bloodwork asap
meanwhile read this...good luck and keep us posted.
