Sleepy thoughts...

My cats appeared, kittens again
Within a dream, I had last night
Tiny they were, their lives renewed
Awaiting me, at Rainbow’s end

Lily, Baby Cat, Tiger, Tuna, Queen Victoria Grey, Calamity Jane Grey, April Dancer, Cerridwen Blythe, Silver Kestrel Karlzon the Ransacker, Chesapeake Bandlylegs the Hunter, plus Junior, Tiger and Fonzie (the Anita's cats that I knew); all there waiting, playing together as kittens do, sleeping piled up, jostling for position at the milk bowl...

I actually think it could be a nice way to get one's kitten fix without sixteen to eighteen years of subsequent commitment to a grown-up cat.  (lol   I say this who have five adult cats.)  My sister, who loves cats as much as I do, went through the training at the local humane organization and fostered several litters, and she said it does tend to harden your attitude a bit, because you realize at an emotional level (not just intellectually) that there will always be more kittens whether they all get homes or not.  I'm willing to believe it; after reading thousands of posts on MedHelp I am more hardened to any one particular person's tragedies, since there are always more babies and more people than the world can realistically nurture.  It doesn't mean we don't try, but in some ways it helps -- to be able to detach a bit from the grief of any one particular case means you can be there for more without getting torn apart by empathy and sadness.   But I do still think kittens are the best.  Once someone wrote "what animal makes the best pet?" and I voted for kittens followed by adult dogs, followed by cats, followed by puppies.  Each has their charms but kittens are truly the funniest and sweetest, in my book.

I think there is hardly anything more charming than kittens.  I'm slowly working on my husband to let us start fostering pregnant mamas and their litters for the local humane agency.  My sister says you get over the cuteness of kittens pretty fast that way, but catboxes and all it's hard to imagine me overdosing.  lol

sniff twice.
You 'll have a wonderful "Reception Comitee " indeed...
Wishing some kittens I could not rescue when I was  young can be there as well, even if I could not met them...
