Vomiting Diabetic Cat

Thanks to all for your answers about Oreo's food.

Another question.  About a month ago, my 12 year old diabetic cat, Oreo, was hospitalized (vet and hospital on same premises) because he was vomiting after he ate.  It was the color of his DM Purina food.  Vet felt he should be hospitalized.  He was in hospital for 4 days, on iv, xrays, blood work, etc.  They couldn't find anything.  The vet said he never vomited.  Cost - close to $2,000 for  4 days for procedures and boarding.  Vet said if he continues to vomit they would have to do ultra sound and perhaps exploratory surgery.  So I've been watching Oreo and he vomits about 2 days a week.  I haven't reported this to the vet because I know he will be back in the hospital and I can't afford it.  I've check at home to make sure he's not finding things stuff/objects to eat that may be causing this vomiting.  I just don't know what to do at this point since I don't want exploratory surgery.  Sometimes, I feel I'm being ripped off with vets.  Has anyone experienced this with their diabetic cat.

Thank you,
Debbie

Have you noticed the vomiting after he started the DM?

And, how long has he been on the DM?

This will help us to figure out if the vomiting is related to this new food!  I have a feeling it is related.

Started him on the fancy feast two days ago.  He loves it! This morning he vomited about two hours after eating. However, I have not taken him off the purina diet mgmt dry.  I see posts from others that I should take him off the dry food completely.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi, I agree with Opus.  My first thoughts were also that it could be the food.  Have you noticed the vomiting after he started the food?  And, how long has he been on this food?

hi...I posted more comments on the first post you started....please read....have you seen a reduction in the vomiting since feeding less of the purina food? Oreo may have a sensitivity to one or more ingredients...its predominately liver...and too much liver isn't good for cats(quoted from dr. Pierson's site)
