Possessive Feline

Hello. I am AmelieM. I had my siamese cat for 12 years now. she does not like my friends sharing my attention especially the males. she does not like us living with my husband. She only comes out when he goes to bed and she is very dipressed. My husband and all my friends love her but she only wants me. I even thought of moving to another apartment in the same building. has anyone experience a jelous pet before? and what to do? thank you

I think I saw something about this on a new cat show on animal planet but i don't remember the name of the program. If memory serves: have your husband begin getting involved in the feeding process so your kitty begins to associate him w/positive things. Then maybe some gradual play time and grooming is a great way to bond but a slow gradual approach is key and always w/a reward. That's what I remember about the episode and seems to make sense-you're going to need some patience but it will be well worth it!! She needs to feel like she's not being replaced in the family but that there's love for everyone, so make sure if you're affectionate w/hubby in front of her you try to include a little attention for her too. I've noticed my oldest is very sensitve to suspecting my 2 youngest are getting something she's not, so we're careful to keep everything on an even keel-brushings, treats, playtime & just general attention. Best of luck!!

Hi, I don't know but find it very interesting about your Siamese wanting only you.  I had a Siamese, and he was also very jealous and wanted only me.  I wonder if this is some of the Siamese personality.  They seem to bond very closely with one person or their caregiver.  Let's see what others have to say.

Dear Spirit3,
Thank you very much for your kind reply. My husband loves the lady in question, he looks after her very well when I am out of the country. But she used to be alone with me because of jobs comitments. My husband talks to her, feed her stroke her when she is not looking, but afraid to brush her because there was an incident when she scratched him and even bit his nose!! I am taking her with me on 2months holiday, last year she was so sad when I returned after 6 weeks, in fact she was ill.
Thank you again for your response. take care
