my 5 year old kitty has the same thing and scatches so bad her hair is thinning by her but. I've tried frontline baths and sprays and i even did the carpet. i must have radio active fleas because they just wont go anywhere. I also vacuum atleast once a day. cats can swallow fleas and then get nasty little parasite worms that you can see when they go potty. your best bet is to take it to the vet. some vets will let you buy the expensive flea stuff without bring the cat in.
Hi Elliott...I am sorry to hear about your poor cat. You mentioned that they both "come up scratching"....does only one of the cats have a skin issue or is it both of them?
First, follow the advice given by Savas and zodiacqueen...your cat(s) need to be seen before any sort of bacterial infection sets in.
Second, the flea baths you are giving probably aren't helping to reduce the scratching because most of the fleas are not actually on the cats, they are in the house (in carpets, hardwood floors, upholstery, etc). If you don't have a product that will help to kill fleas long term, all that is happening is that you are killing fleas with the bath and then more fleas jump on the cats.
Go see your vet and then let us know what he/she says...
Good luck!
I agree with Savas, but would like to add the possibility of food allergies. How long has your kitty had skin problems? And, do all of your kitties have the same problems? And, last but not least, have you switched food and what is their diet?
I'd suggest having the vet check kitty out. How often are you bathing him and with what product?
It could be mange or ringworm. Is the skin actually bleeding in any places?
