Hi Murph,

Have you had the surgery for your kits crystals?? Hope so, this is important . Please let us know if the issue has been resolved.

We worry too!

Thanks. CML

I agree about the food. That is a brand that has low quality junk pumped with filler. Its not goo for a healthy cat, let alone one with bladder issues!

Wet diet that is free of corn and grain should help. The food you are using now isn't good.

happens with females too....but since males have a narrower urethra blockage is seen more frequently....a blockage is a medical emergency!!!

Such good info, O. I never thought about them getting blocked from urinating from  dislodged crystals.

I suppose male cats are more prone to this?

Best regards.

feed him a wet diet....never ever allow him to eat dry food again!!! I have a male that was dx'd with crystals too...that was over 3 years ago...simply by changing his food to wet....never dry, he has remained crystal free...

but meanwhile keep a very close eye on your boy....while these crystals are present in his bladder he can pass one at any time...and if large enough it can become lodged in his urethra and thus it will become blocked..so he can't pass any urine, than its an emergency situation!!! a blocked urethra will cause the bladder to over fill with urine and burst!!

make sure there is urine in his litter box and keep watch eye out for him straining to pass urine.

I can send you good info from a trusted Vet to read...good luck
