I Can't Sleep...

I am awake and crying, because I am feeling overwhelmed.  Stardust is sound asleep in my lap, purring, but every time I let out a sound she jumps up and nuzzles my face.  Almost like she is saying, "Don't cry I'm here."  She is being so sweet, and loving towards me.  
She has been so nice to me since Erik and I have been living separate from each other.  She has been by my side every second I am home. She never takes her eyes off of me, almost like she is watching me.  She has been rewarded for what she has done.  
She even has felt the need to protect me from the sick, stray cat that has been wondering around. It so cute, it shows just how much she loves me.  I'm not even scared of the sick, stray cat that is outside.

She is named after David Bowie's Album "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars"  there is a song on there called Lady Stardust "He has a face like an animal..."  Her name is Lady Stardust, but no one calls her that we just call her Stardust for short.

Glad to know you at least has Stardust to help you... sorry for your troubles.
But I never could understand why people can say ,think and do some terrible things to/about animals in general and cats in particular.
They are the best nurses and therapeuts you can find - and work almost for free, they do it for pure love!

I love the name Stardust as well.  Glad she is able to stay inside, safe and sound :)  Margy , I hadn't thought about it like that, but it makes perfect sense.  Nature is calming. I once read that even having a fish tank makes your BP go down and helps de-stress you. I can be a little highstrung sometimes and I know that if I just sit down with one of my cats I immediately start to calm down.....ahhh

I don't let Stardust go outside. I have been trying to contact animal control to come and get it.

Animals are wonderful aren't they I have found through out my life even when I haven't had a pet of my own that the nature and wildlife around me has helped with  any over whelming feelings ..Birds in the garden are so great I feed mine and I  sit each day and listen to the birdsong. I love the name Stardust such a pretty name .

Sorry you are having such a sad time.  You are right about our pets sensing something is wrong and wanting to be there for us. What would we do without them? They are truly loyal.  I hope you can either take the sick kitty that is outside to a Vet or have Animal Control pick him/her up so your Stardust does not get exposed to the illness.
