That's an interesting question.  Change takes us out of our comfort zones.  That in turn churns up emotions like fear and anxiety.  It's like s ship leaving the security of the harbor and setting sail in stormy seas.....

I look at all of the changes in my life and have found positive in nearly all of them.  Although some abrupt change appears to have a negative impact in the onset, time often proves otherwise.  For instance, a change in employment.  You've had the same job for years, maybe even decades.  It is the same of grind, day in and day out.  We become a bit complacent and just allow things to happen, and then suddenly you are either fired or layed off.  Panic sets in.... "Wow, I am unemployed and I have bills to pay."  That anxiety is followed with the reasons behind being let go.... "am I even employable?".

As you begin your job search, you are applying for jobs that suit your skill set, and maybe a few outside of your skill set.  You being to interview and perhaps are offered a job with similar benefits and pay.  Now you relax a little.  You've got a new job and a lot to prove to your employer.  The vigor you attacked your old job with in the beginning is the same vigor you apply now.

With that said, you are excited!  You want to prove your worth!  But some anxiety is still there... the fear of not cutting the muster.

For me, I do welcome the possibilities that come with change.  I think change makes us more well rounded, more adaptable.  Being an employer myself, I look for people who have perhaps a bit of experience in the field, but look more for people with a higher level of maturity and a wealth of life experiences.  A lot of younger people have these skills.  Now, I am not necessarily looking for a "know it all".  I've hired people with a "world of experience".  On paper, you couldn't have found a better candidate for the job.  You hire them and find out that they are full of bad habits and are sometimes not willing to comply with company policy or procedure.

With me, a good attitude and some life experiences goes as far as any "education" that was bought and paid for in a college.  (All of my education pertaining to my field of employment has come from my work experiences.  On the job training!  I've had to learn from my mistakes, which is something that happens in the real world anyhow!)

I do eagerly embrace change..... it's another opportunity for me to prove my worth.
