strange sores??

Hello fellow Chiarians. I'm new to all this, and its the scariest thing I've ever dealt with. I'm 29 years old and recently diagnosed two months ago. I have to have the decompression surgery, just haven't set the date yet. I'm hoping soon.

This has taken a major toll on me and my life. I no longer live normally and my 9 year old daughter has suddenly grown up overnight and become a huge source of support and assistance.

Oops hit send before I was ready

I'm just wondering if anyone else has strange sores appearing all over? Like lesions or scabs? I've gotten them along my hairline, neck, arms and shoulders, and some on my legs. I already feel like a freak with the back of my neck swollen but now these. Anybody else have them? And if so, what are they?

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

Make sure the Dr u  go to is a true Chiari specialist and is ruling out related conditions like Ehlers-Danlos which can affect the skin...could be y u have these sores....EDS can cause ur skin to tear more easily and it could be from a brush or u scratching....I bruise all over....looks awful...and I do end up with scratches I did not recall getting......

Hello & welcome.  You're in good company here!
There are so many wierd, freaky things that we all discuss here.  I have similar sores to what you described, but mine is psoriasis on my  knees, elbows, and really bad on the back of my head and a little bit down my neck.  Thankfully it is covered my my hair.  But it can be really red and sometimes can even bleed and scab.  Other times it is just pink or white and scaly. It may not be what you have, but it might be worth looking into.
Good luck with everything.  Don't be afraid to ask about things.  You'll find a lot of comfort in knowing that you are not alone in what you are going through.

I tend to get the sores a lot from scratching, sometimes they just appear out of nowhere. They are bothersome though, and sometimes they're very noticeable to others. People stare and whisper and I just want to yell at them. They have no idea what I'm going through and how difficult this is for me :-( I try putting ointment on the sores to help with healing and I clean them with peroxide frequently, but some seem like they'll never heal and some that do leave holes in my skin that scar. I just want this to all be over. Its seriously taking a major toll on me mentally and emotionally :-(

OK I will definitely bring this up at my next appointment. The last thing I want is to add another medication to my already long list but if its necessary than I suppose I have no choice :-(

thanks so much Selma :-)
