1Week post op with questions...

Hello my chiari family :) so its been a week since surgery (cran, lami, dura plasty with fascia removed from my thigh) and under the  circumstances im doing great. I am not doing two much which is odd because im labled as superwoman with five kids and all. I do feel good through. There is the stiffness soarness etc but overall pretty great, thank u Jesus. Here r my questions: I have been feeling the pain  by my temples assuming it was frim the halo (actually had some leakage on one side when I woke up from surgery). I kniw its early to tell but im also getting this sharp pain almost at the end of my hair line on me neck , right side. is this from the halo to? Do these halo pains ease up pretty quick? How about the coughing, sneezin, yawns pain or explosive feeling, that's the worst and what brings me to tears!

Hi so glad u r doing well.I think the halo pains r unexpected by many of us...and if u feel u have some sort of leak, do have it checked out, when do u go for ur stitches or staples to be removed?

Talk to ur Dr to see what they have to say about it all, but u r early in ur recovery and it is not uncommon to have pain post op like this.

I went throuh all of this 3 weeks ago exactly today I was in surgery. the coughing is the worst, get some nyquil or dayquil cough and flu to take care of that. I know it  hurts....it is the anesthisia that they use  coming up. I know it feelis terrible ....and the soreness  fromt the halo also I experiences and actually  had little sores everywhere from it. My mid-next week, it will feek much better. I m sorry about the pressure...I felt that as well, and the NS told me that is normal, due to the flow trying to restabalize itself after being blocked for so long. Just wanted to let you know theses things are super normal.  Taking it easy I am sure helps...I unfortunately haven't been able to. Best wishes to you ! I hope that it helps knowing someone is going through the same things you are.

As someone above mentioned they move a lot of muscle back there when they open you up.  My NS described it as the size of a quarter and muscles have memories so it will take a while for them to get back to where they need to be.  Doing your neck exercises will help them.  Glad to hear your taking it easy.  One day at a time. Also rest as much as possible.

i cannot tell u if this is from the halo.but i do think I know exactly the type of sharp pain u mean...u know for surgery they move a lot of things and nerves and muscles can have a trauma...healing is a long way and I think and hope it will resolve within the next months

Glad you are post op!  Yes, Thank Jesus! The great physician!

I had two definite sores from the halo.  They were the first thing to heal, probably 2 weeks?   I had super sharp pains on my temple, but they were short and would go away.  What do you mean by explosive feeling? Pressure?  Are you still tapering on your steroids?
