2 children with chiari's????

My 10 year old son just had decompression surgery in april and is now doing well. But my 5 year old son about a month ago started complaining that he coulnt see well!  over the past 2 weeks he has been having very bad headaches to the piont where he will lay down and go to sleep in mid day! and this is so not him...  WE are going to have his eyes re checked before i approach his dr with the question but does any one know of two sibilings with chiari malformation.???

  Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

As cash mentioned above there r many siblings that have chiari and some that a parent and a few siblings....the research on this connection and how it affects family is still being done.

This is not something that u can say comes from either one side or the other, mom verses dad, as I know a few mom's and their children were affected and I know a few that it was the father and the child....

and a few just the children....so far neway.,...at times it appears to be so random.

  Since ur boys r so young, and one was already dx'd and treated make sure they r checked for sleep apnea as well....

Do keep  us posted on how both ur boys r doing : )

First off I can't imagine how strong your 10 year old must be to go through that surgery! Pray everything is going better. Yes I have heard of 2 siblings having it a good friend of mine and her sister both have it and had the surgery as adults. Praying that u find answers.
