san francisco bay area chiari specialists

Hi - i've seen a few posts over the past few years asking about recs in the SF bay area, and wanted to send out a request - perhaps some of you that have gone through the process of meeting different surgeons/specialists here can share your reviews?

thanks so much,
Alison

Hi Alison!  I was decompressed on 9/23/13 by Dr. Sam Ciricillo in Sacramento at Sutter Hospital. He is world renowned and a chiari specialist.  He does several chiari surgeries a month.  My daughter was just diagnosed and will be seeing him in a couple of weeks.  He knows his stuff and has been doing this surgery for many years as he is one of the top pediatric neurosurgeons as well. I know it's not in SF but it's close and I cannot say enough good things about him.  Hope this helps in your search.  Good luck!

Jeanne

Thanks selma, I looked through the list and didn't find anything nearby, but did search for UCSF and saw a few posts.  One discouraging that said that the person who I had been referred to as a second opinion 'specialist' at UCSF had only done 2 chiari decompression surgeries as of june 2012!

I understand the rules about recommendations, so will use those gudelines.

Thanks.

Hi...we do have a list of Drs names, the list is compiled by members of Drs that they have been to, treated by and liked....we do not give recommendations. as such and  are not allowed to mention nething bad about Drs on the public forum......so at times I will say PM me and I will give u more info.

Many of the members that have had surgery do have a journal in the profile page with info on the Dr as well as the experience....this may b a great way to get a "review".

Also keep in mind we may not have an active member from ur area, so the list is a great way to find names of Drs and then research them to find the right one for u......

Another possible is u may find an older thread on a Dr someone loved by using the search this community feature....
