Pre-Op testing worries...

I had pre-op testing done this week and they found irregular "Squamous" cells and an elevated White Blood Count in my urine test. My doc says it is probably either : A. cross contamination and nothing to worry about, B. cross contamination and a Urinary tract infection or C. Bladder Cancer. I'm praying for A - cross contamination. My doc is doing another urine analysis. Anyone else had something like this happen? Thanks.  Vicky

Good news, they had a cross contamination and it was just a UTI. I am on antibiotics and everything will be fine. One less thing to worry about. Thanks again everyone. V

Sometimes the things doctors say get me going. I was looking up some info on these and you can get these results for silly things such as giving them a urine sample that is not a "first morning" sample as well as not getting the sample "mid stream". So hopefully it was something as simple as that and you will be good to go for next week.. Please keep us informed!

I am with theib9 on this one, praying it is A as well...a UTI....

Sometimes we get mad at drs for telling us all the possibilities and others we get mad when they don't tell us enuff.....we just have to wait until we know for sure and deal with what we have in front of us.

Look to family history...if there isn't ne for bladder cancer, than more times than not, u need not worry.....try to relax.....

I am going to tell u a story-

I was pregnant with my DD....and with some blood labs I was told my unborn child had physical deformities...of course I panicked......they wanted to do an amniocentesis...I had a cousin with spina bifida and my DH has a sister with Downs syndrome....
Well the tests were redone, I refused the amnio and all was fine....looking back, I wonder if the physical deformity was my very own chiari malformation?????

Drs tell us things we get upset, they don't we still get upset...we have to find a way to deal with what they say and try to remain calm...

Hang in there : )

Im hoping you just have a UTI. I dont get doctors, and this whole bladder cancer thing. This is not the first time that I have heard a doctor tell someone this. My fiance had a physical and had blood in his urine and they told him it might be bladder cancer... Turns out that it was just slight dehydration! I think there are some things doctors shouldn't "suggest" until they are looked further into. You are alreading going through a lot of emotions, I'm sure, with your surgery coming up. Why do they need to add to the worry? ..........Sorry, it just makes me upset. But I really hope its something simple and you will be well on your way to surgery and hopefully some relief soon!
