I'm 17 had surgery aug 17, 2009 so 9 months I guess. Feeling 10 times worse then I ever did beforensugery. The surgery never gave me releif at all just put me in more pain because of the surgical aspect. So much for kids bounce back faster. No docters can figure out what's wrong and I've been to plenty! So I totaly get u!

Not that I am trying to imply nething, I am older than u...and did not have the issues u did post surgery....not everyone will have the same result or reactions to surgery ....we have young members that r still having a hard time of it...so age should not even be a topic.......
Younger people do tend to bounce back quicker than an older person......but that does not refer to chiari...it is a general statement and very broad in nature.

I hope ur insurance allows or pays for  another opinion.....u should have been checked for related conditions......

AS to y she said that.....I have no idea...except she was try to placate u...to calm u down, to accept how u feel?

Sending prayers and good vibes~~~~ ur insurance allows u to see Dr H!!

No have not been tested for anything else but would like to be!! I am in a fight with the Insurance co. to let me see Dr. H in Milwaukee but very slow process! My Ns is very good surgeon but some times I don't think they want they're rep to be tarnished. I had a couple of leaks and still have a pseudomeningocele. I have an apt with him in July so I might just have to hang in there til then!  His nurse tells me that he doesn't think the pseudomeningocele or anything else could be wrong with what he did so now it can't be from the chiari! she also told me that they don't know why but younger people have a better chance of recovery? why would she tell me that if he thinks it's not the chiari?

were u checked for HII, tethered cord or other related issues?

8  months is not enuff time to heal completely, but, surgery will not eliminate all symptoms....we do hope and pray to eliminate some symptoms but there r no guarantees.

Did u have a MRI post op?

What other complications did u have?...u may have said b4, sorry I forget if u did....

My NL sent me to him to try to deal with not getting any relief from the surgery.  My NS told me that now after the surgery nothing should be from chiari!! even though I have the same symptoms as before and also a pulling sensation and other complications from the surgery. I have gone full cycle and I am dizzy!! LOL

HI...who sent u to a psych?

It is very possible to still have chiari symptoms after surgery...especially if u have nerve damage....did they test u for that?

May we ask what issues u went to the dr with that they sent u  to this other dr?
