Looking for a Chiari specialist, are there any out there?

Every Dr. I have seen this past grusome month does not know a darn thing about Chiari!! I have been educating them on some of the sx. My own primary phys.only remembers a little bit about it from med school. My neuro does not seem to be experienced as I would like him to be. Is there a specialist in or around the Syracuse, New York area? Need HELP! Kathy811

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

The thread u posted to is an older one, so u may want to try posting a new one...and do check out our list of Drs, this list is compiled  of the members Drs and is here for u to use to research Drs and is not meant as a referral.

I am in PA and went to the Chiari Institute and was pleased...there are a few Drs in NYC as well on the list...see a few, compare and see who is best for u.

Many of us find we do have to travel to get to the best Drs for chiari.

If there is neway we can help u, please let us know....keep in mind u r not alone : )

I am also located in Syacuse dealing with a Chiari Malformation. I conteacted the Chiari Malformation Institute, sent them my scans and questionaaries and they invited me to come there for testing.

Did you find anyone local? Did you contact the Institute? I am conteplating now that they responded to me.

Thank you so much for the list of specialists. I will run a couple of the names by Primary Phys. to see if he can refer me to any of them. This was greatly appreciated! Kathy.

Hi...the best place is The Chiari Institute in LongNeck, NY!!

I am in PA and plan to go there.I also had the same experience with the NS here. I traveled to Philly and was very dissapointed......I hadn't had all the tests completed...only the brain and cervical MRI's that showed the chiari......I have since had more testing and found I also have scoliosis and tethered cord! They didn't bother to even check.....that is y I am going to where they do this daily!

Good luck
Godspeed
