2nd opinion

This all started with being diagnosed with glossopharyngeal neuralgia. my neurologist said they found nothing on my mri.  I had been sent the results and knew I had a syrinx.  I questioned him about it and he ducked my questions and high tailed it out of there. I also know I have tethered spinal cord. I've been looking at my mri and I'm thinking I should get a 2nd opinion on the possibility of a chiari malformation. I added a photo of my mri and I'm wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion or am I barking up the wrong tree so to speak?

Thank you selmaS. I will definitely find a new neurologist. I think it will be a bit of a wait but I know it will be worth it. Thank you again!

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.

It is quite possible that you have a CSF obstruction due to herniated cerebral tonsils and  it also looks like you could also have a retro flexed odontoid.

Research a true Chiari specialist as they will look at these related conditions and issues in addition to Chiari...while other Drs may not know about them.

You pic gets fuzzier on my PC when I enlarge it so I can not see it too well....but it looks like it is tight and your brain stem is not straight....

Plus, Chiari could be the root to your throat and ear issues.....
