So, I thought you'd like to know i finally got an appointment to see the neurologist ive seen b4 chiari surgery. I didnt like the idea of being "set free" from the NS who installed shunt. and being the NS who did decomp is out of state makes it a bit hard to see him---BUT ANYWAY--- I see him next week!

Well...with mine you can copy the files onto the computer into a folder and then export them back out to the CD drive to burn another disk. But the problem is that she can't load them in the first place.....

I wonder if you tried to take them to a photo place if they could do it for you? Here I would go to London Drugs or something but I have no idea if you have that store where you live. It would be cheaper than ordering a new one.

no when i try to read the CD i get an error messge even b4 it loads...

so if anyone knows how to copy your cd's id love to know..

Lisa, I wish I knew how my FSIL did it, but I am not that good with comps......Hopefully someone else can fill us in.,..I can't even get the pics on here...lol....but I do know there is a way to do it....unless ur facility has some type of code, but that wouldn't make sense, bcuz if u were going outside that facility to get a second opinion, how would they read it....there must be something u need to click on....I know I couldn't even see the pics when I looked and he had no probs figuring out which to open ....there is a lot os info that will not open on those disks.

Did u try to open all that is there?.......

how can i make copies ive tried..and i always get an error on the copy i  make unreadable,due to missing fragment or something like that...the place that gave me the cd's last has some kind of special program on the cd-

Lisa...u can make copies of the disk ur self.....My FSIL did it for me...so I always kept a copy when I had one to hand out......I learned the hard way......but I now know to always have a back up copy.

this doc likes the films and not the cds so i have the films but not the report i will get a copy of the report from him on monday......

i always ask for copied of anything testing they do to me...actually i think i need to get another copy of the 6 weeks work of CTs,MRIs and Xrays--i had them once but NS in WI wanted to see them so i sent him mine the hosp said if i needed more copies i needed to pay for them.. :(

Well...I guess you got some good with the bad...at least you have a NL that would like to help but it's really too bad that he wasn't kept into the loop on what was going on. I imagine he will be true to his word and will be a lot more aware of what is going on the next time he sees you. I am really happy for you that you have got one that cares enough to do the research...
Good luck on the CT...hopefully it will shed some light on the head pains.

I found u have to ask that reports get sent to the drs and even then it doesn't mean that will happen....so like Shannon posted in another thread...always ask for copies of tests and reports....I always make copies for my other drs as my copies tend to be the only ones they have.

much to my surprise, they kept him completely out of the loop.

had i known i would have pulled him back inside....but atleast hes willing to do what he can to help!

good gosh we left an hour and 15 minutes before the appointment for ct scan and we still arrived 15 minutes late...freakin traffic was absolutely terrible...geesh then we find out when we are minutes away- that there is a stupid hockey game and thats why all the traffic  GEESH....... but anyway i will let ya know what he says on Monday

Lisa....sounds like this dr was not kept in the loop, but he sounds determined to get to the bottom of it all.

well i threw him for a loop he was a little confused as to why i have a shunt, so he got his aide to pull my records from the hospital....then said lets have a CT scan jut to make sure nothing is wrong, whats got him concerned is those ZAPS i get in my head and the pain i feel when i yawn. He was also a little miffed that the NS who did shunt, told me to only come see him when I had an MRI done. He doesnt know much about the shunt either (BLEW ME AWAY) he did the standard neuro, test they do- i passed all except walk toe to toe, oh and he gave me 3 words to remember and asked me in the middle of things (brain wasnt listening tho i forgot one of them once then kept saying them in my head til he asked again LOL..or i probably would have forgotten them again)  he checked my bp (said are you seeing your PCP--Umm yeah)  Oh he also checked my eyes, and then asked me a series of questions abou tmy vision Hmmm something up?? I didnt ask and he didnt offer but i guess i will hear something soon cuz i have a eye doc apt coming up too..lol...  ANYWAY CT scan is set for tonight, then next week (monday morning) I go back to see him again for results i guess...he said if CT looks alright he will then work on the pains iam having...

...i was a little surprised that he didnt seem to know much about hte shunt and when i complained about the catheder(tube) in my stomach he was like Hmmmm thats odd, and when i told him i told the NS about the stomach issues and he looked through me he was almost MIFFED again!!.....he said hes going to do some research on my medical journey before he sees me again...

so really i found nothing out but i feel a little better for going!!

Yes he was really nice and openly said "i would be open to you getting a second opinion" and when i decided to go to WI I wrote him a letter telling him i was going and that surgery was set...

during the time i was with him he was being open with his confusion as to all the issues i was having he didnt think they were chiari related but also admitted he knew little about chiari. at one point he even admitted it was possible to all be chiari related-and strongly suggested a 2nd opinion again.

so i felt comfortable with him. which is why i am going back to him.

Good news u r getting seen and I pray u get answers as to what is going on.

Unfortunately NS only see us when we need surgery and post op....if the surgical site is ok, there is no need in their mind to see us.....we need a NL to see if something else is going on.....but it is sooooooooo hard to find a good NL.

How was this dr when u saw him b4?

I'm glad to here it...it really helps to have someone that knows to follow up with.

I am still awaiting an appt. with a new NL....the old one was a jerk!
