Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.
May I ask do u also have Chiari? Or u just know about a CINE MRI at the MRI center in India?
If u have more info on Drs in India that treat Chiari I would be interested to hear about them : )
sorry I don't have information about facility in Massachusetts does a cine MRI
but I know MRI center in india.
MRI Center
I know Mel....just depends on where u live and what is near u....I did not have that .....and we did have a new MRI facility, but I had to call several times as the person answering had no idea what I was asking ....but I also called the typical places I was sent for MRI's and they did not know or could not do them....
hmm crazy Selma....I have a huge mri facility close by...guess I was lucky in that aspect. I know sometimes they aren't familiar with terms like when I had MRV to check veins in head due to EDS but once I got there the people inside knew what they were doing.
Unfortunately that is not the case...there r many hospitals that can not do the studies as they do not have the right machines to do them, and do not even know what all is involved.....Not all of us have MRI facilities near us...and we have to go where there is a MRI machine so, if u have tech with out a clue u r doomed.
I had to call around until I found one place locally that could do mine....
I would think any mri facility would be able to do the cine study as long as Dr order has requested it. It was a very short part of the test.
I just had a cine-MRI at Tufts Medical Center. I saw Dr Carl Heilman, NS at Tufts. It was a very pleasant experience to meet with him, but unless your herniation is severe he won't even consider doing anything. I have heard that he does chiari surgery, but from all that I've researched, when I met with him it was very clear that he's not a true chiari specialist. He has some very old school thinking about chairi. I was grateful that he sent me for the cine-MRI and actually went a step further and ordered some pics of my thoracic and lumbar spine to look for syrinx due to ongoing pressure and worsening sx. I was impressed with that. I guess it all depends on what your situation is as to whether or not he can help you. Good luck!
