Wound Revision

Well my NS and wound dr want me to have an I&D complex wound revision whatever that means. Has anyone had this done before or know what it entails? I didn't really have time to ask any questions because my NS sent me over to the wound clinic. I guess they measured my incision being open 2 inches deep. Then the next thing I know the NS office is calling me telling me they want to do surgery Tuesday followed by hyperbaric treatments. I'm guessing this shouldn't be as big of a surgery but at this point I have no idea and this being my third surgery in three months obviously something isn't right. The office couldn't even tell me if it's going to be in or outpatient. I don't even know what I&D stand for! Any information is appreciated!

Yes. I have done a ton of research. I'm lucky that the university of Miami is only a hour drive for me. They are going to do the surgery and then start the hyperbaric treatments down there so they can watch it . Then after I'm discharged I'll go to one by my house. I found an EDS specialist off the list in that forum and am initially going to make the drive to Gainesville since that is where most of the specialist are . It's a four hour drive but well worth it to get someone who knows what there talking about . Thanks for the help. This forum has been a lifesaver . It's nice knowing I'm not the only one that gets frustrated with the medical system !

Hi!  I have not had the I and D done, but it stands for Incision and Drainage. It's considered a minor procedure where they make a small incision in your existing incision to drain any fluid or puss build up.

Hope this helps and wish you luck. My prayers are with you.
