Glad you made your decision. I know it's not easy. I do have some advice for you. Ask for a pca pump in the ICU. This way you can dose yourself only what you need. Make them have Zofran AND Phenergan ready IV if you need it. Get OFF narcotics as soon as you can by trying Tylenol and Motrin IV. This worked for me, you will be much more alert and feel better sooner. Also, try the Lidocaine patches on your neck instead of the muscle relaxers. They work great and have no side effects. Lastly, realize that it is normal for your head to feel weird after surgery, you may feel pulsating when you change positions...etc. it's all normal and it does subside. Craniotomy's are painful, but manageable. Ask what technique your Dr uses... Mine used the MRI Wand. A computer guided technique and it made all the difference in the world. Smaller incision, less invasive, etc. I was up walking right away. Have total range of motion in my neck! it's hard to believe I'm doing great, everyone is so amazed. I am thankful to God. You will be fine too! Don't forget to pray for your healing. Good luck to you. Lisa
Congratulations...if u would like a prayer thread posted post ur date in the surgery date thread....
