This thread tends to be about what we will do over the weekend...projects, travel destinations etc....
I am working on a signature quilt, and this is where I will put my updates on it, I do have a pic of how it looks so far on my profile page....right now it is just rows of blocks and I got friends to sign it, now I am adding embellishments to it and then I will sew the rows together, make the sandwich with batting and other material for the backing and then quilt it.....
How large will the finished quilt be? It sounds very special, and it must be beautiful. I finished one that is very special - in memory of my closest friend. I really love quilting - but I have my own style. I do everything by hand because I am intimidated by the machine. I would like to take a very elementary quilting class. Is there a link that you know of that lists classes and locations?

Quilts I have done in the past had hand applique and quilting on them, but this one will be all machine stitched except for a few hand appliqued embellishments.....
It is a lap quilt 40x45 a little larger then a baby quilt.
You will have to post some pics of your quilts...I would love to see them

Are you using a computer, or a phone to access the site? for me I use a laptop and upload the pictures, then go to my profile page and click on the icon to upload pictures....select the picture and select the privacy settings (friends only) ...you can create diff albums for diff pics....ie- for crafts, or pets..etc...
As of 3 hours ago and for the rest of the weekend im going to be staring at the night sky looking for the aurora borealis as it may be possible to see at the moment as there is a solar storm hitting the planet lol I need your quilt to keep me warm I think! Rather chilly outside

I heard about that and if I was not in the city with rain expected I might be doing the same....but there is no way we will be able to see the lights, so I hope you get to see them....
Wish I could give you a quilt....lol...I have a few to do after I am done with this one....and it is keeping me busy along with all the other projects I have going on.....

I dont think will see now. The earths magnetic field has flipped ( north ) needs to be going south for me to be able to see as im in the UK :( it can flip back at any time. But its already 1am and im at work on night shift lol I should be asleep! We have to be awake again by 7am

Goodness...it is only 9 pm here....but the lights in the city too bright to see them....sigh....I am in the North East of USA...I am sure we would be able to see if it was dark enuff....

Hi all what is on your projects list for the weekend???
Well I am still working on the quilt, waiting for a block to come in the mail...in the meantime my DD asked for a Halloween costume...the dress Sigourney Weaver wore in Ghost Busters...the one where her and (?) were the gate keepers?...she levitated in the dress too...
One part of the dress is almost ready...then we need to go get more material...lol.. that is always an excuse to go to the fabric store....my fav place...
My 8 year old daughter is having two friends over for a sleep over tonight. So, tonight and tomorrow I will be playing "pickup" behind them. Then, after I drop them off I'll be watching WVU football with my husband.
I'm having two good days so far!! Its been about two weeks. Whoo hoo. Maybe I'll shoot some hoops with the kids this weekend too!

Sounds like fun, just don't over do it....your 2 days of feeling good can turn into a week of feeling bad....shoot a few hoops, but do not get roped in to doing too much,...

Hi all so how is everyone's projects coming along...I am still working on the embellishments of the quilt...getting there and then I will put it all together and sigh,...finish it...
I did make the under slip for my DD's halloween costume...if she keeps waiting to get the rest of the material she will be making it herself...lol...
The fondest memory of my dear mother will always be the times she took me to the fabric store. She made costumes for competitive figure skaters in the 1970s and 1980s - even after I retired and went to college. Something warm and happy and creative floated above me in that store. And I got to see a side of my mother that had nothing to do with me. She was a creative woman besides being a mother to my sister and I. She was my father's wife for 68 years and is his love forevermore.
I have the same fondness for shopping through rows of cotton fabrics arranged in colors. I could look for hours and still not see everything. It is endless. The only other place that gives me that sense of endless possibility is the grocery store - all that food under one roof. My mother always took me shopping and I was told to "hold onto the cart" while she pushed it down the aisles. I guess what I loved the most about those days shopping with my mother was to watch her complete autonomous self. I guess I got a real sense that she was so much more than being my mother.

Aww such lovely memories and such a lovely prospective as well.....
I feel the same way in a greenhouse full of spring annuals...lol...and of course the fabric store and a wholesale floral refrigerator.....
I am most content tho camping...it was something we did as a family when I was small and it is my only way to connect to my family as it was as a whole as we have all gone our own ways and it is so difficult to get everyone together....
Memories is something we all have and no one can take from us....

Hi All,,,,well I finally got some sewing supplies....but now I have items to prepare for my DD's Fall Fest Party on Sat....so I will be MIA.....
My daughter has entered a fall pageant. It' a Saturday so I'll be be playing dress up this weekend. Wish her luck! She's 12 and very excited. I'm nervous for her.

No talent required. Lol. We live in a small town and population might be300:) she looked so pretty! And took home 3rd or as they called it 2nd runner up.
