FURIOUS !!!!!

I am absolutely furious that since tuesday I have been calling the DR trying to get them to rewrite the prescription for my pain meds because THEY screwed up and still nothing at :2:30 on a FRIDAY...so I am going down to the office because apparently that is the only way I can get their attention !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH>....sorry just needed to vent !!!

Well it is now Tues so hopefully by now you have received the meds that you need.  I also have an awesome PCP that seems to help me better than the others.  I go see my NS on Thurs and I have a list of things I'm going to address.  MY DD and DH plan on going with me because they want to discuss some things with the also.  OH, OH,  he better watch out LOL....Just praying you got the answers you have needed all weekend.

Selma, now that my car is fixed...I think that I am going to go see my PCP tomorrow. I just can't wait any longer. They will fit me in within a few hours, and they really do listen to me. She is the one that pushed for the specialist....and did the research about Chiari....so...I thnk that is my best bet...


Mazie.....you are too sweet. thanks so much for all of you care and concern. I am hoping that you as well are ghaving a pain free day. He is a great specialist....and that is what makes it so hard...he is the ONLY one anywhere near here....and he has a BIG heart, so if he sees a need....he will overload and I just don't think his staff could keep up. The flood here over thursday and the weekend flooded the hospital, so that has alot to do with this...sigh

  Sheila, have u tried ur PCP?.....Mine is open to help me with meds etc....in fact he is the one that put me on the TOPAMAX.....

I do not think u need to be released to go to another Dr at this point, especially if it is a Dr u already go to...IE- ur PCP......

OMG Sheila, I am so sorry, been thinking about you all weekend.  I CANNOT believe your doctor...or their office. How can they leave you high and dry? They could at least give you a temporary presrip (like 14days) until they can see and get you in...I just dont understand. He seemed like such a great NS..I feel so bad for you. Maybe you should go to the ER so at least you can get some relief...
I dont have any suggestions, I am sorry, I havent had surgery as of yet..but my thoughts and prayers are with you all the time.

These have been the worst 4 days. The Dr has allowed me to run out of all meds without any step down from the valium, xanax,percocet. I mean I have been in pain before...but this is sickening. I was told by Dr walsh friday night that he would take care of it first thing monday morning. After speaking with his office, they tell me that they will try to get him in the morning...again....but it may not be until thursday. If they are this ill concerned about me, then just release me so I can go to a dr that has an office staff that cares.  UGH...I am just hurting so much right now.....any suggestions....at this point I am desperate for relief...

It is hard to say how long it takes someone to heal.  It will be 2 yrs for me in Sept and as I put on a post I have had an AWFUL 2 days.  At 6 weeks I was still in a lot of pain.  I'm so sad that your Dr. doesn't understand your pain and you have to go to ER  that doesn't make any sense to me.  I'm so angry right now at your Dr.  I hope you do go to school and become a NS.  Let me know and I'll be your 1st patient LOL... I know at least you know and would understand.  I would like someone who doesn't have Chairi to just crawl in my head for 1 day.  I never thought I would be living the life I'm living, but it's the life we have been given and thank goodness we have each other.  I love all of your support and understand.  Hope you get the med's.  Praying for you.

Dr Walsh finally called me back and said that he wasn't  in a position to do anything until Monday, so I should go to the ER for medical and pain help. REALLY??????? nWhat .... would it ruin his weekend...well, if his clinic would have done their job...then I wouldn't be in this position. HOW can people be this way. Is it normal to be in so much pain at 6 weeks post op....he said I shouldn't be. How did you guys feel around this time?? Am I crazy or is something wrong. This pain goes from behind my eyes down into my jaws and then in the back of my neck...and its like I can feel the inside of my head  hurting in specific spots..... I am really lost now....

  Not so crazy, if it were me saying it @ 53 then I would say crazy as it would take me too long to helo neone...lol....but u have a chance to really do it and if it is something u really want I say go for it : )

Finally got in touch with after hours and they are supposedly paging Dr. Walsh. I guess we will see. If not, I don't see much choice other than to go to the hospital...because I CAN'T handle this pain until Monday. I guess I just didn't realize how much pain I was actually in. Hey I'm still in school and I'm 33. Your never to old to go. I hope you do. We need new doctors who know what the difference between a stroke and chiari is.

You know....I have seriously been thinking about the awful things that we as Chiarians have to deal with including the Dr's and their staff, and have often thought....since my daughter goes to school this year....maybe I should go to school to start working my way up to Neurology since I don't think the chiari would allow me to be a NS....but maybe just maybe...if I became a dr I could help some of us...I know it would take forever and that I would be starting VERY late...but if I could just help some people with Chiari....then it would all be worth it. I know....crazy idea at 28, but I have always wanted to be a physician, I just always thought I would be a geriatric physician, but maybe Chiari specialist is more my thing.....

Thanks ladies. I have literally tried every otc pain med. I.e.~ tylenol extra strength, ib profen, excedrin...of course not all together, but you get the idea, and now that the meds are out of my sytem, I can feel the real amount of pain I am actually in, and JEEEEEESSSHHHHH it is AWFUL. Selma, I didn't think about calling after hours ...that's a good idea. My hubby copuld pick it up when he gets off at 9pm so that would be great. The worst part is that I just heard on the news that TULANE'S 1st floor is flooded and guess what floor the ER is on...yep...the 1st.  You can actually get to the main part of the hospital since you have to drive into the garage and then take the walkway on the 2nd story over to the hospital, but it just shouldnt come to this. This was their mistake and they need to either fix it, or release me so that I can go to another DR who will  keep up with what I need, Dr Walsh is wonderful but their phone system is terrible !!!!!! I am going to try and call ina few minutes and maybe I can get through to the after hours.

  Hi....I am so sorry ...what I did one time when I could not get in to see the Dr, as I knew it was the office staff that is not giving the Dr the info and getting back to me, so I called after hrs and he was contacted via a page...and I explained how I called and called and now u have the weather as a reason u could not get in, but u need those meds, how can he help u ....I got what I needed for the 2nd time going over the heads of the office staff.

:( That is just awful, can you just repeatedly keep calling the office, to annoy them SOO much they will get it sent in? I hope you dont have to spend the weekend in the ER, :(  Thinking and prayers to you! Thanks for keeping us updated!

Well due to the weather..I couldn't get down there. My neighborhood is flooded and I live at the highest point in new orleans, so if I am flooded too much to get out of my drive way...then I DEF can't get downtown !!!!! OOOOH......that makes me even more furious and at the moment my adrenaline is pumping to much to feel the pain, but it won't be long until that hits, so I pray that I don't wind up soending my weekend in the ER, but I have a bad feeling, especially since I have not recieved a call back yet even.
