chiari, ddd & T11,12 spondylosis ?

Well another visit to the NS, and this time I left crying. I will not go back to him again.
I got my results from  my lumbar MRI now.
It states a T11-12 ddd, spondynosis, anterior fatty type degenerative bone marrow change and posterior disk protrusion with flattening of the anterior dura and anterior cors surface which is slightly angulated.
No abnormal cord signal is present
A dedicated thoracic MRI with axiel images through this may be considered.

L3-4 Disk desiccation and mild disk bulges without stenosis or root nerve compression

L4-5 There is disk desiccation and a broad based postlateral disk protrusion with flattening of the anterior dura. THere is no significant stenosis or nerve root compression

My NS said it looked good and that these could be the cause of my severe pain (sciatica) and heas ordered shots for my lower back.
I asked if this would cure anything?
He said there is no cure this is simply for pain manangement.
He again referenced my weight (over) and told me to work on that.

He was in a hury and was obviously put off by me asking any questions,
His nurse appologized for him and said he had a meeting to be at and he sometimes gets that way.
She said they would call when they set up the shots and I said O.K. but that I would never come back and see him again. As the tears flowed down my face, she kept appologizing. I thanked her and left and wept in the parking lot.

Yet another NS to tell me to loose weight
At least he didn't say go to a Psychiatrist

He has dismissed my herniation 11mm
C6-7 disk protrusion
and the results I typed above.
I am to now just deal with the pain???????????????????

I am getting closer to leaving Louisville and going to Shane 99 Dr.

Any thoughts on the results of my MRI?

Thanks
Dee DEe

I have found Neurologists and NS to be a... special bunch...

as in... worst bedside manner ever...

I don't know why... but so many of them I met have made me cry too.

Although, I have also met two nice ones... but, they were both ER room doctors... still... nice ones are out there...

Anyway... Don't let them make you feel bad. *hugs*

Selma,
I am thinking of going to Dr Oro in Colorado.
I have the 11 mm hurniation but no blockage of csf fluid.
I also have all these problems with my neck and back.
Is he just looking at Chiari or will he look at all these aspects?

Thanks
Dee Dee

Hi DeeDee,

I am so sorry u went thru this again with yet another dr, but it is the mindset it seems of most drs and until u have a chiari specialist u may get this.
And I was also told to lose weight...it can only help with over all health.
And with chiari being overweight can pose more issues.....I am not saying it is the only thing they should be focused on...but for ur overall health, it is a concern for all of us to be at an optimum weight for our stature.

ANd u asked ur dr about a cure...there is not cure for chiari...only pain management and surgery helps lessen the symptoms, but there is no guarentee that u will have a successful one.

If u can see Shane's dr u will be in better hands then u have been....read Dr Oro's poem and I am sure it will set ur thought process to a more positive one.....NS that r not experienced with chiari can take that from us as we look to them for answers and we do not get ne.

Godspeed
